Q:

Newbe Intro with tons of questions

First of all I’m new to this forum and to Airforce airguns but I’m not new to the airgun scene. I used to be very involved in airguns back in the eighties and I was the go-to guy in my neck of the woods for repairs and restorations. Got out of it for a while and now I’m back with a hunger for power. PCPs were relatively rare in those days but now they’re everywhere. I bought a Discovery a few months ago in .22cal and I love it. 1″ groups at 50 yards! What’s not to love???

Getting to the point. I just ordered used a Condor in .25 cal. ( Cuz I really like to hear my pellets hit home.) and besides it seemed to me that .25 would be the best choice considering the power level of the Condor. Right? (That was the first question.)

Next question….Over the next few months I’ll be learning the capabilities of the rifle (and myself) all the while keeping my goal of getting it set up to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 100fpe for at least a dozen or more shots in the back f my mind. Where would you suggest I begin? Heavy hammer? After market valve (top-hat) etc??? I’d like to perform the work myself because I feel capable given my experience and besides I enjoy the work.

Next question… What’s the barrel diameter of a .25 cal Condor? I’ve got a TKO 7.5″ LDC that I’d like to install if it’ll fit. It’s made for a Discovery.
Eventually I’ll buy a shroud but I’d like to start shooting right away and I don’t need complaints from the neighbors.

Last Question for now…..If this was your first Condor what’s the very first mod that you’d do? Trigger, stock, angled tank mount???

Thanks in advance and I hope I wasn’t too long winded. 😀

.25 OD is .634″ ish. To get 10 100 fpe shots I thing your going to need a larger tank. You can port the stock valve and get 100 fpe with a 6 or 7 ring from Jerry.

me either, mine brakes nice and smooth with the tip of my trigger finger. p/d is yours one of the original condors? mine is one of the first 100 and I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it…. once I did pull the pins on it, when I replaced them the safety was tighter, all I did was spread the trigger housing back out at the pins and it returned back to being butter smooth

what moneyshot said. that has got to be one of your first mods, unless you plan on using it as the trigger.

the 25 is cool , you can find all you need just start searching this forum. you must have some big critters around to want to go straight to 100 foot pounds.

Welcome to the dark side of the dark side!

yep you ordered the right tool for the job, you will need to do some mods to get your 100fpe as well as pic up some of Jerry’s slugs, but it sounds like you’re quite capable of figuring these things out and tinkering with it ’till your happy.

I would start off with contacting Adam aka walkonking here on the forum and pick up the WoKbutt from him. then play with the stock gun and learn it before messing with too much, you’ll want to get the top hat and preload wheel adjusted and balanced for sure, then start modding from there. easiest way for you to pull more power would be a heavy hammer, polishing the valve, polishing the i/d of the frame in the hammer area, as well as the barrel at the breach.

I think the barrel o/d is .611, I’m not 100% on that but that’s what my spare .22 barrel mics to, not sure if the tko will hold together with these pressures as well as the .25 caliber, you will want to make sure there is adequate room for the larger pellet, or be able to bore the baffles.

hope this answers some of your questions, feel free to read and ask all the questions you need as some monkey will chime in at some point and answer them for you
