No love for Condor
My .25 Condor shoots 4 to 5 inch groups at 50 yards when it’s filled to 3000. By the time it gets to 2000 psi the groups are about 1 -2 inches. I’m getting the best groups with crow mags.
I’ve never had a more inaccurate gun. Maybe I got a dud?
I’m tempted to send it in to Tony for a workover, but I hate the idea of spending any more money on this gun.
Has anyone else had problems with inaccuracy and fixed it?

No, the turrents are ok.
Do you feel that you have maxed out turrets? If not just give them a bit more turns to line up.

I saw a airforce condor SS owner on a Facebook airgun group and he was going through accuracy issues. What he did was buy the airforce riser rail and some adjustable scope rings. Prior to the that he was having big issues. The adjustable rings helped keep scope adjustments to a minimum as he felt he was using to many clicks on scope and was putting to much stress on inside of the scope tube. He adjusted back to center best he could and first used the rings to get close to target then fine tuned turrets. Accuracy was night and day.
Pellet selection is one of the parts we all have to go through regardless of PCP or springers, you could have bought two condors at the same time at the same caliber and each one will love a different pellet. So you are going to have to try different ones out.
Which length of shroud did you buy? Was it a Talon Tunes shroud? Can you post pics of it off and on the gun? He makes them very well and they line up right. Only thing I can think of is have you ever removed barrel??? If you never had the need to then the shroud installation was straight forward without removal of barrel depending on the shroud. :4:
I’ve put shroud trouble on hold until I can get the gun working right.
Two weekends ago I tried it with exact king heavies and turned it down to bottom and it still grouped terribly. I also tried en Juns. The shots landed Here, there and everywhere. Maybe 4 inches at 50 paces or so. Then 3 shots under a quarter. Then another flyer.
Meanwhile my exchange student daughter who never held a gun before was getting pretty close to hitting a fly with multiple shots with the Marauder. The fly took off and landed a few inches over. It groups very nicely, and that bolt action is quite nice. I love the Benjamin. Hate the condor even more today. That 2 X 4 ergonomics is dreadful, and even Tony’s stock isn’t quite right. (I’m near the tail end of adjustments.)
Am I stuck with sending everything to Tony for a work-over? Scope, shroud, hats, etc? There is jo doubt there is some kind of problem.
Here’s the worst part that isn’t even about the guns: I don’t like shooting as much as before. I fell in love with air gunning walking with my dog around 100 -200 acres of timber, a creek bed with 30 or so 1950s cars, and a 2 acre pond. I was 15 or so until I left for college. Now I live in the city, with nowhere to shoot except a range (boring) or a picnic table out back of my pastor friend’s church 125 miles from here in the Ozarks. He also has 4500 acres I can roam. But it is not and never will be the same.
Don’t lose the love. Its a love hate relationship but the payoff is worth it.
The tophat helps you get a bit more power without any of the little restrictions, but if you want to slow it down and not really going after that pest that needs to be hammered on you can put in one of the restrictors for more casual shooting.

My Talon SS in .22 will give me well over 50 shots before needing to be filled. It is bone stock too. The talon SS is smaller weighs less and has more power then most springers (at least the ones I have)

A few updates. One is turning the power down all the way fixed the groups. Smaller than a quarter bench rested at 50 paces.
Second, some of the trouble must be I was using the light exact kings not knowing the difference. Shopping a few days ago for pellets I accidentally discovered there are two weights of kings. I just bought a few cans of en jun and also the heavy kings and will try that. But the kodiaks weren’t doing much better than the 23 grain kings, and I think kodiaks are 33 grains just like the heavy kings.
Frustrating. Seems like it’s harder than it should be.
I bought one of those Talon tunes top hats and the inserts and was shooting without inserts. Will somebody please remind me why use the special top hat? I got all caught up in gizmos to make the gun “better” and now I have washers and hats and inserts I have no idea what to,do with. Kinda stupid of me.
Next I need to figure out why the talon tune shroud threw off the group. Maybe it wasn’t on straight. It sure is well made and light, but if it changes the shot somethings wrong. I’ll assume it’s me given all things considered. Is there some way to make sure the shroud is on correct?
I want the most possible power and accuracy. Whatever the sweet spot is. What is your recipie for pellet, top hat, setting, etc? I kinda wish I’d left the gun stock, except for the stock and drop tank.

shroud could make a difference in poi. unless its clipping, zero the gun with the shroud if u intend to shoot with it. even the finest shroud could still make a shift. generally 1.5 to 2mm extra in diameter is enough. i use my .35 silencer on .177 it works okay. a little louder than one properly made for .177 but poi didnt shift much.
there are so many things that could go wrong with the gun. check them one by one
1. clean the barrel
2. check all bolts they are tight
3. clean internal. esp where the hammer travels and all moving parts
4. check if the tophat is loose. this is usually the main culprit
5. check scope mounts and the scope itself.
6. if you have chrony, check the string. some pellet they hate running to hot. 800-950 generally a good range to go after accuracy

Power wheel says 10 on the horizontal and 14 on the wheel.
I tried a shroud and took it off immediately because it shifted the shots by 3 inches. Maybe I installed it wrong.

Wow, 10/14 is a lot of PW tension… my JSB Heavies (34gr) are zinging out at ~960 to 975fps on 5/1 on my Power Wheel. As a matter of fact I have a few Condors and all are very powerful with JSB’s around the 5 PW setting using a standard spring and standard hammer set up as they come from the factory. I’m talking sending heavy pellets out at high velocity. My Condor SS in .22 stock gun shoots 21gr Kodiaks at over 1000fps at the 6 setting, JSB 18.1gr Diabolo heavies at 1045 … this gun should be brought down to the 5 to 5/6 area for the Power Wheel as she is running hot ! All my guns have an “O” ring under the factory top hat and that top hat once adjusted is blue loctited so it does not loosen from the shaft. Top hat clearance is very important for adjusting airflow along with the PW … I use it was a two part system.
Every Condor I have is a first rate speed demon firecracker right from the factory and is accurate to boot !
The shroud should make no difference in POI, that I don’t understand ? … I must say though I don’t take my shrouds off as all my guns have R&L shrouds and all shrouds are blue LocTited in, i have not seen any clipping.
Your gun is really a ? in my head, why the poor accuracy ? The other thing maybe the shock of the very heavy hammer spring is causing the gun to jump ? … I don’t know, just a thought.
Without the baffles in the gun, does it seem like the barrel is tight in the gun ? are the outside screws snug, any looseness >>> don’t tighten them down more than snug and then blue loctite.

The tank is tight with a talon tunes tank adaptor. Quick change top hat with no restrict or insert.
I tried a shroud and took it off immediately because it shifted the shots by 3 inches. Maybe I installed it wrong.
I don’t know what the barrel bushing or housing assembly is to check that.
