Observations/Surprises with your R3 30 cal?
I have nearly two tins (10+ fills) through my Standard 30 and would like to compare notes with the 30 folks and things you may have found. This is my first 30 cal although I shoot light (50 grain) casts with a .25 Condor with some similarities and differences.
1. Took a while to get used to the recoil nudge in terms of accurately shooting. Took me 50 shots or so. (I also finally set the trigger to 12 oz. down from the 15 oz. I set initially)
2. A dirty barrel makes a significant impact on groups. I didn’t notice this at all on my Standard .25. Besides cleaning before shooting the first shot I have cleaned it at 100 shots and 200 shots. I am hoping this improves with more break-in.
3. Noticeably less wind effect. It’s normally calm in our valley but we had one windy day. It really pushed my .177 around that day but the .30 seems to ignore it. It was obvious in Chairgun with the BC difference and similar velocity.
4. Louder hammer noise than expected. Foam doesn’t help. Need gun side ear plug.
5. Lower overall gun noise than expected down range. Neighborhood friendly but the quietness fools you on the energy flying around out there unless you hear a ricochet or hard impact.
6. Absolutely love new muffler design for noise suppression, cleaning, disassembling etc..
7. You need to be aware of the vertical POI shift as the regulator is opened on the first few shots. (fine for hunting but forget shooting a group until the reg is open).
8. Very destructive on small critters. 😳
9. Will soon be trying oring sizes #4 and #5 for the probe to hopefully quiet it a bit by the ear.

For the record – the last US President i liked was R. Reagan. But, then again, it was those good old times East vs. West – the cold War. When that shit ended all the politics have kinda gone underground so we , the People, have no insight on anything – nor the interrest – and so who the Hell cares.

P.S If they liked him so much in Germany, why not send him over ?? His skinny ass coupled with the German Counceler Angela Merkel would make a BEAUTIFUL couple. Surely far away from what the ” Führer wanted to have…

Well – he has openly said in his past that no one in the general populace should ever own a gun meaning he doesn’t much care what the US Constitution says.. It would take a book to describe the other issues. Are you sure we can’t send him over there? They liked him so much during his first speeches in Germany. Not so much since the spying I guess…

I have the those coming along with the 5.1×1.6 and a few others to see what works and are snug fit too. Otherwise, they may wear quickly.
There is still a bit of air hitting me on the cheek and it seems to be coming out of the sides of the first vertical slit in front of the bolt probe /pellet insertion opening if that makes sense.
Actually I do believe the 5.5 x 1.5 fixed my bolt probe leak.

Waiting for my hopefully final orings to arrive to fix the probe noise… I think the oring store started shipping today again after the holiday.
One additional observation for you sparrow aficionados. The heavy 30 cal pellet is noticeably more adept at penetrating light branches and brush to reach marauding sparrows than the .22 which is basically useless in brush and the .25 which is mediocre at best. The sparrows have begun protesting in my backyard. 😯 Besides they are suffering in the bitter cold here. 😉
Bolt probe blow by is the only issue I have with mine.
The 5.5 x 1.5 did not quite fix it though it is a lot better.
I haven’t put it over a chronograph yet but is shooting hard and the accuracy good.
Pretty nasty weather in these parts and looking to stay that way for a while.
I am currently very happy with my R3 .30 Long.
I just posted couple of shot strings. One stock gun and one after I turned down regulator a bit. 50 usable shots and FLAT string!
Once I fixed the bolt probe blow by I was able to shoot without earplugs. Its back to normal sound.
I only have 30 Yards to shoot and its all one hole. I dont have ability to shoot farther at this time. Maybe soon.
I don’t have anything beyond 50 yards out back without some major brush cutting work and besides being too cold I have a 10 foot deep creek to cross right past my 50 yard target. 🙁 Typically, the LW match barrels excel at greater ranges (100+ yards) over say the ST. Probably something to do with the rotation speed. I will take it to the local gun range when it warms up. 😛

I really don´t know… The Politicians are something bad before the worse. What would we do without them ?? They are the Idiots running our Countries. Before them there were King´s, Queen´s and such. It´s unbelievable that people, in this day and age, still have ANY kind of respect towards those, since those MF were the worst thieving bastards of them all.
In Europe, including Sweden, there´s still countries , with a King – who doesn´t have any power whatsoever. That same “house of King´s” have murdered, raped and molested people around them in Centuries. The best part is ; They stlill call him/her a King / Queen…
As it is today who the hell in their right mind acknowledges a King ? A Queen ?? WTF – In my book a person needs to do things extraordinary, for the people, to even be alleged as the one with the Crown. The rest is BS – thus the Republic´s all around the Europe.
