Q:

odd regulating on this Short, whats your Es looking like?

I finally got around to putting some time in with the Short and my chronograph. Right off the bat I the first three shots were up around 870 fps. I didn’t want it that hot, so I loosened the set screw and used the steel pins to lower the HS tension.This turned out to be a frustrating exercise. Lots of air and several magazines later, I decided to refill the gun to 200 bar, and see what it gave me. I only shot two magazines before I quit.
high = 831
low = 794.9
Es = 36.36
Sd = 9.05

This result in 24 shots is certainly far off what Keyser’s sample got. Anyone else tested their new TGAG Mutant Short with different or better results? So much for tiny holes at 9 yards.

thanks, Sloth. I was looking for the vaunted consistency of the regulator. I guess ymmv. I’l keep at it. thanks for sharing. much obliged.
Darryl

Here’s 24 shots out of mine from 180-130 bar fill (tank running low on air) with JSB 18’s:

min 736.00
max 753.00
average 745.92
median 746.50
es 17.00
sd 5.03

Mine’s still straight out of the box, I haven’t touched any adjustments or done anything besides run some patches through the barrel. Less than 200 rounds fired. Hope you figure out what’s going on with yours.

Darryl….

Your gun is gonna shoot hotter because of the longer barrel…

now as far as the erratic Chrony readings, Me i would pull the Shroud/ldc off and run a string of 10 or so pellets to make sure its not clipping.

if the readings are better then i would say its clipping…

also … i would make sure the Tport is free of burrs. and that it Lines up.

Dman I’d love to dig into this gun (as soon as I find a manual or an instructive video on how to tear it down). Meanwhile, Should I crank the speed back up to 870(+) where it was out of the box? Do you think the barrel length is effecting the regulator? I know a longer barrel can increase power, per inch up to a point. But I’m not too familiar with regulator etiquette.
thanks, and keep it coming,
Darryl

Maybe an oring if not the chrongraph.

Oak, I’m not 100% certain the chrony is working properly. I can always test it against a friend’s unit. But here is a spreadsheet from the last time I used it (as you can see, less than a month ago) what’s your Es like, btw, Oak?

Sure your chrony is working. Are you getting bkow back in the face? Those numbers are a very wide spread.
