Q:

One Piece for Assman

Assman wanted a piece of, well, valve. One piece, that is. He was tired of denting the ridiculously thin walls of the stock hi-flow with the tophat’s set screws. I will supply a couple different seals with this one piece to set the tophat height at .100″ and .120″ or .140″, haven’t decided yet. Will need to run some tests first. In addition to the increased cross section, it has 3 ports instead of 2.

And here it is compared to a stock condor hi flow:

I made it a little larger in cross section for better flow and cut a new O ring groove in the brass body. Will post figures with some of Jerry’s slugs when I have a chance.

aloha,
walt

maybe this should be another line of posts, but walt, you think that a condor hi-flo would fit into an edge tank? if not, im gonna have to figure something else out for this tank idea….any thoughts from anyone??

I would like to send 2 of my valves to. Let me know.

Also walt the breech side of the TH will fit the stock breech ? I man need to send a valve you way! What parts do you need just the brass insert?

Right about now I’m regretting selling my thermal vision hardware…. shit. So many critters to blast and so little time.

Good problem to have right there!

Gonna have to get out your weed-wacker Walt…. 😆 😆 😆

Roach, send me one of yours then.

Baz, good to hear from ya. Yes, I cut a new O ring groove on the inside and it uses larger O ring. I’ll try to post a pic but I’m knee deep in aluminum right now on another project. I thought of making the inserts as well, but… I don’t keep brass stock on hand. Nice work you have there, as usual.

Plus, fucking pigs were less than 50 yards from me last night in the pitch black, I could hear them but could not see them due to heavy (chest high) groundcover/vegetation/weeds. also the laser designator does NOT WORK in heavy weeds, the light dances on the leaves in front of you and never reaches the target… if I could ever see the damn target. Argh. Damn frustrating night. I gave more blood to the mosquitos than any blood bank ever got.

brass insert is the same for talon and condor.

sounds good walt!! man, youre gonna have a fair share in this rifle build!! complete valve, custom barrel for the surefire slugs…lol, do you do moderators too?? i wonder. 😈

Do you use an o-ring to seal around the stem on a Condor valve? I have made a few bits for a Stealth valve but also made the brass part that screws into the valve body and fitted an o-ring inside aswell.

Roach, not sure. I’ve no talon inserts here to compare with. But if it uses a different delrin seat then probably no.

Walt,

Being as you have to open the brass insert up, does it matter if it is a Talon or a COndor insert?

I ask because I happen to have a Talon insert and vavle body laying around that I broke the stem on.

Roachcreek

Cab, it will be reasonable. I have to see how much AF wants for their brass body inserts (has to be modded and then sold with the new valve stem), but everything should be under $100 together, with a couple different delrin seats to change the valve height.

walt

that definatly got my attention…a Walt modded hi-flo valve with one of these valve stems… and surefire slugs…yeeeeah, i will have to go this route!! any thoughts on cost of the valve stem walt??

Yeah, that got my attention! 😀

Jerry, for the first test I just put in around 1500psi, didn’t really look at the gauge carefully, might have been a couple hundred pounds less than that. Fired a few 31g kodiaks (in .25) with minimal preload.

From a 24″ barrel the chrono read around 860fps.

…..!!! I had to do a double take. From under 1500psi?? Unreal. HOlds some real promise.
