Q:

Optics, sell 3 bullpups & drop the cash on great optics

I currently have (6) Edguns or Crickets and after shooting them all some and some of them a ton I have arrived at the fact that I always grab for the 3 smallest format guns out of the group and all 3 are .22 calibers. If I decide to sell I will be keeping the Leyla .22, Cricket .22 compact (Shanu, Dr. Steele’s) gun and The Edgun R3M short that I converted to an R3. The sell guns are the Edgun .30 Short, Cricket Long .25 and this last one is difficult but maybe even the Cricket .177 compact,( My fat fingers just don’t like those tiny pellets, but I love the gun !!)

My question is If I give up these 3 guns I am dedicating the money to Great scopes for the other 3 and once again what scopes are worthy of the sacrifice. I want side focus and preferably big wheel available, Light weight, 10 to 15 yard max. (min focal distance) great glass and reticle and cost won’t be a big concern since in my mind the money is already spent. What would you do…….. What optics would you consider buying…

I really use all three guns for the same purpose, close range pesting so no real distinction between the three, for sure I would want the same scope for the cricket and R3 and real confused as to what to put on the Leyla :confusedn:

True but that’s a $2-3K scope for immortals. I don’t think any AR 1-8x scope (resembling the style above) sub $1K is below 50 yds parallax. At least from my limited research. 25 yds parallax would be okay for AG use but 50 yds would be hard to manage unless you shoot 50-100+ yds on the regular.

That and only a few AG enthusiast have single setups >$4-5K (AG + scope) 😯

Did you opt for the illuminated version? That sets you back close to a cool $3K no? I really like the short AR type scopes but anything over 1-6x is in the $1K+ range. 1-10x is a dream but at over $2K for the non illuminated version still hurts just thinking about it, ouch! Plus I’m not sure if most AR type scope focus below 50 yds do they?

These look cool and are somewhat affordable being sub $1K but I don’t know if they are airgun friendly (focus & reticle)

Ya, I hear mine was supposed to go to some clown here in the states but he was not deserving so they sent her to me to slap around and abuse….

You mean a Leyla like the one Hoot: didn’t get that is being manhandled by Ted.

I needed higher rings and I ordered Leupold high Aluminum rings, they will be here in 2 days, I have been playing with it on my Edgun 22 short in the mean time with some medium rings. I will post pictures when it has been mated with my dear Leyla. 🙂

Nice! very nice!… lets see a pic of it mounted 😛

MTC makes good scopes for the money, no question. Those aren’t high-end scopes by any means although a very good choice for those not willing/able to spend loads of money for glass.

And regarding the adjustement range: Huge range isn’t needed for Airgunning. If you have problems zeroing you should shim/use off-set rings/canted rails to keep the scope as near its optical zero as possible to get the most out of the optics.

Of course it will work on a PCP. No problem.

As for the OP : The only scope i´d ever put onto that Lelya (and will put on my soon-to-arrive Colibri) is the one that´s like Tailormade for those two little Guns – the MTC/Optisan Viper Connect. One has to take a peek thru one to understand. A good reticle, a very compact scope with clear image and a super-wide field of view.
Doesn´t break the Bank either so you can keep the .177 Compact.

Ville,,,thanks for your reply,,, i might finally go for that Millet scope that has a tons of MOAs or others that has same features ,,,but still couldn’t find one that has 140MOA turret adjusmnet like this Millet,,,,,, and i usually want to have a scope that can be mounted on firearms as well,,, (however i don’t own any,,,) but usually prefer to “kill two birds with one stone” ,,,

as for the MTC one that you have mentioned ,,, it is a great scope between MTCs but the only thing i don’t kike is ,,it is not shockproof and recommended only for PCPs,,,exactly how you decided,,

Edit; i just checked MTC web and saw the MOAs they are all between 97 MOA to 120 MOA except the Mamba has 30 MOA,,, so they are great ,,, and all caliber rated as well,,,

Any one tried the Millett TRS-1 and -2 or the LRS-1? Ive had both on .308 powder burners and love the optics.. The 35mm tubed LRS-1 has a huge 140 MOA of adjustment and a nice fine 1/2 mildot reticle.. very well priced for a lot of glass..

Brother Phil,,,

this scope looks like very great,,,WOW 140 MOA,,,i never heard ,,, 😯 😯 ,,,, but one question: is this scope will work fine on PCPs??? is it suitable for air rifles???

because i really want to get one like this ,,,has a tons of MOA turret adjustment,,, :1:
