Q:

Optimal air consumption

Hi,

My Cricket consumes around 2 bars per shot. What are the tricks to reduce the air consumption? I would like to hit 290ms with JSB 1.03. Now, I am close to 280ms. My reg is set at around 120 bars. I do not remember how many revolutions were made in firing valve after spring contact. HST is maxed out.

Uncle GKU, give us you magic insight, please.

Attaining efficiency is a matter of properly setting the HST and valvespring tension so that minimum air is expended per given velocity. To start off, you may want to increase valvespring tension then adjust the HST tension. If HST setting puts out desired velocity, back out the HST screw counterclockwise until you achieve the velocity with as minimum tension as possible.

My consumption is cca 20bar/14 shots it means 1,4bar/shot but speed is only 880fps (266-268mps)
If you want to use 290msp (16grain/1,03g) pellets you do not expect lower consumption. Try to set 276mps for 1,03g and valve spring 1/2 turn after contact. Regulator should stay at 120bar.
120bar is still enough pressure send pellets over 270mps / 1,175g (18grain) This is my setting. Similar setting has also Greg.
