Ordered a .25 Cricket

I love how Chad2 ‘ s Cricket looks with the PA on it. Ordered PA last night.
Now to figure out how to post pics.
This forum is the bomb.
If you haven’t bought yet, I would seriously look at the Aeon 6-24×50 with the Field Target Retical. Reason is, I had a 8-32×50 Mil dot on mine for about 6 months, and always found it hard to judge exactly were to hold over on longer shots. (70-100+ yards). The Aeon 6-24×50 with the Field Target Retical set at 20 power works far better at matching an identifiable point in the scope for the 70,80,90,100 yard shots. No more counting mil dots. Then covering up the very point I’m trying to see. I don’t feel 16x is enough power for “ME” to acheive the accuracy that my Cricket .25 is capable of. Been shooting at 100 yards a lot lately, and this combo blows my skirt up every time I shoot it. That’s my experience……………… 😎
Ya! Post pics!! And add your rifle to the cricket picture thread
Just walked into the house and two packages await me. A .25 Cricket and a Plano case. Now the fun begins opening boxes.
The scope I really want to try and would like for my Cricket is the BSA/Falcon 4-14×44 ffp. They sell them at Midway for around $250 shipped. I’ve read nothing but good things about them on all the forums. And $250 for a first focal plain.. Can’t beat that. I have a crazy iPhone scope cam thing I made attached to it in this pic.

Hey, I have an Optisan Viper 3-12×44 on my BSA R10.
I have searched and searched for a scope. I tell myself that I do not want to spend $500 on a scope if it is not needed. Then I think of the shots that are available to me. Some are long range shots. I want good glass (able to reach squirrels) clearly. I will check the Viper and the CP both at 6x, then at 8x, 10x, and 12x on targets out to 100 yards. If the Viper outshines the CP (like it should) I will get on the horn and order something else.
I would really to hear the members opinions on the clarity of their scopes above 10x at a target 100 yards away. 125 yards away would be a bonus. Also scope names.

Both my Bobcat and Cricket have variable scopes. I leave the magnification set at 12X on both unless shooting rats in barns where I’ll turn them down to 3X or 4X.

I don’t think any of my airguns have fixed power scopes. I like the reticle on the SWFA SS 3-15. Saving my pennies.
Fixed power scopes are lighter and clearer than variable ones. So it might be a good choice going with a 12 power if heat waves are an issue . The 10 power swfa is an HD model so that is even better. I know there are a few guys who have them on their airguns

[quote=”keyser soze”]you live in so cal? if so I know where you are going to shoot. Because of our chaparral and exposed earth you will suffer from a lot of mirage. Because of this I have found the practical magnification is going to be about 16X. Anything more than 16x will start looking like you’re under water. I have bought expensive and cheap scopes for my airguns. After years of mistakes I came to the conclusion that unless you are a hardcore target shooter you don’t need a variable powered scope. I think the SWFA fixed 10X or fixed 12X is perfect. The turrets have plenty of room for out to 250 yards and the holdover for the about 170 yards. The scope’s mechanics are good and they price is right. I say get the SWFA SS 12X fixed with the Mil-quad reticle.[quote]
I have an SS 10X on another rifle.

I was comparing those before I bought also the falcon I think has a better reticle but the PA has better turrets and glass from the reviews I read

Hag, I have the same scope on my cricket and love it. The Bobcat wears the 4X12X44 Viper. I think they’re a great clear scope for the money.
