Ordered a .25 Cricket
All Replies
To start, I will be using a CP 4-16×40 MD.
Saving to up grade later. Looking at the SWFA SS 5-15x???, and the Weaver 3-15x???. I don’t want to spend over $1000. FFP, parallax below 15yrds. Recommendations? Opinions? Thoughts?
I’m currently shooting a Hawke 6.5-20X44 and it does a very nice job. At some point I want a FFP upgrade, but have not bit the bullet on that yet, so to speak. The Hawke scopes are somewhat heavy in the higher magnification versions and I may step down a bit to conserve weight of the overall gun… that .25 is a heavy sapsucker to start with. I took of 1.1 pounds with mods to the synthetic stock, but it’s still heavy, and with the lighter stock (comparable to the wood skeleton stock now), it’s even more top heavy than before, but it sure shoots well.
What scope are you guys using on your crickets?

Great choice. I’ve been impressed with mine. 8 Tins ? Try the Baracuda Hunter pellets, for an effective hollow point, when you order more pellets in a day or two. 😀
WHAT??? Only 8 tins??? That’ll be shot up the first day of playing.
In the past we would shoot 100 ground squirrels in a day. With the drought I am lucky to get a half dozen on a weekend.
Sparrows, starlings and pigeons, well that is another story.
Did you have your Cricket tuned?

You got a good gun, nothing wrong with wanting a tune by earnest,,, You just get the best of the best of your Cricket,
I really love my 25 , Sparrows just seem to explode.
I think you made an amazing choice brother and you will not be disappointed!
Good luck with it.
It is factory shroud and was replaced. Gun shoots not bad but not great. Most guys would have no problem with it. If it beyond my capabilities I will get it sent out again. But that is precisely why I bought a cricket so wouldn’t have to get it tuned and #&-%-/)”.
eelect is it a factory shroud? I wouldn’t be very pleased with that! Maybe Earnest can get ‘er straight for you. For that matter, if you bought it new, get the dealer to make it good. If you are near Southeast Texas (Houston area), I’d let you borrow my factory shroud to try it and see if maybe it’s the gun or the shroud… I’ve replaced my factory shroud with one of Donny’s. He helped me with some minor clipping with the one I got from him. After that, my gun’s POI did not change whether or not I shot no shroud, factory shroud or Donny’s.
Good luck with it.

WHAT???
I’m doing some indoor shooting tonight and will check my 25 at 70 yards. I am so close to drilling hole a bit bigger on shroud. I think I still have very little clipping just enough to screw up those long shot groups. My 22 cricket kicks my 25 any time of the day by a good 1/4 inch and more. I weighed some pellets last week so I will see how that works out. The Air arms 25 g pellets are awful in consistency .. the New heavy skirted pellets from PA are much better.
I sure hope yours is a shooter.
Congratulations! I just got mine last week”. Still getting used to it.
I want to shoot it first to see how it does.
