Q:

Original Hummingbird

I have been interested in the Hummingbird, because it’s unlike any other PCP in my opinion. The original compact Bird which was seen a couple of years ago, appears to be in production by Kalibr, at least in Russia. Here’s a link to Russian Air Gun TV.

Didn’t you ever wonder why Eastern Europeons sound so strange when they speak??? They can’t pronounce the letter “y” because they never knew one existed until after 1918!

Uncle Hoot do you mean like this man ? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEPTp5WMAzjh9mOrKUwRLmQ   Just play and listen.

But he is original US guy with learned Russian accent

Only an Eastern European can speak real Eastern European. That idiot on Youtube is a disgrace to all capitalist running dogs!!!

Kind regards,

Dear Wingnuts….

Watch my typing….it’s written in METRIC!!! In Cyrillic metric, it’s “I” after “c”, and “L” after “z”, so you have this backwards. The Cyrillic alphabet has NO letter for “y”, so the “y” is inferred by the presence of the capital “L”. Didn’t you ever wonder why Eastern Europeons sound so strange when they speak??? They can’t pronounce the letter “y” because they never knew one existed until after 1918! Just like the Japanese have no letter “r” in their Asian metric alphabet, they have difficulty saying the letter “r”. Now your Spaniards can’t stop saying the letter “r”, because the Spanish metric alphabet has no less than ten letter “r’s”. You will often hear them “rolling” their letter “r”, especially when they sing!!! Everyone knows that!

Living on a sheep filled island, where birds forgot how to fly, has it’s drawbacks.

PS: See my most excellent post, with pictures, on Leyla O rings…perhaps you can interpret the metric sizes shown: http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=31246&start=420

By leyla I guess you mean Lelya.. 🙄

Did your anal probe arrive yet?

Dear Flightless Bird…

No probe yet. Must have been stopped by Customs.

You say tomato, I say tomato…same word. In other words I don’t know how “Leyla” is spelled. I suppose the metric spelling might be “Lelya”, but we are on the English standard here and I don’t want to confuse either myself or myself!

Regards,

Hoot:

Look at the R/H side of your breech.. you can see the letters in plain english..
Capital upside down V thingy, e, lowercase upside down v thingy and back to front capital R… Clearly it says Lelya.. 😯

Im sure your probe will be with you any day now..

I would buy another one in a heartbeat. It’s a sweet piece of machinery for the money. But, the Leyla is doing the job nicely, and very quietly!

Hoot: I notice that WWAG no longer lists the HB on it’s site, although the gun is still listed for sale over at TGAG ($1575.00 :suprisedn: ). So the HB had it’s place in the Sun for a brief moment, but maybe it got too close, burned and crashed? I hope the owners who still have the gun are getting the support they need. Actually I hope they won’t need support.

:hoot: …..Leyla….. :hoot:

A single shot, top loading breech is sweet, not as nice as a side cocking multi-shot, but it’s as quiet and just as handy!

The Colibri seems to have flown off. No word for a long time now!

What is the state of the Hummer these days? Did Kalibrgun ever put in a fix for it’s indexing issues? I still miss the handling of the gun, but the problems nearly drove me to drink (a short drive, for sure, but not the best reason to hoist a few). I returned two samples and finally gave up on the design.

I had the same problems of blow back and indexing. Steve at WWAG had me send the hummer to Ernest and he worked his magic on it.

It’s been a while now and no problems. I love the fit and balance of the hummer…it is indeed a unique gun.

Like you, I wonder if the factory has the problems corrected. If someone in the know, knows, then please let all the rest of us know…LOL

I sent mine to Peter first, to correct the sharp blowback (to my face!).Then he had me ship it to Ernest to correct an indexing problem. Then I shipped it back to Peter (again to correct an indexing problem). He sent me a new one that he went through. Another fail and I shipped that one back for a refund. At least I can work on my Edgun. But I have to tell you that side-cocking bolt idea is sorely missed. With the Edgun I have to take my eye off the target to cock it. In this era of ergonomics, Ed’s old school rear-bolt design and similar BPs is showing it’s age. Still, it’s a well engineered gun now.

Too bad that gun got botched. Very good concept. Why not make a working model and then sell it. It will be hard to gain any transaction if any once they do get it fixed
