Pretty Succesful Pest Fest today

Got me a new dairy farm to do pest patrol. Was a nice warm day today (39 deg f)
Got a bunch of sparrows too. Did pretty good on 60 yards on them.
These pigeons were taken between 55-80 yards.
These were taken with 25 cal. Picture is with 22

That is why God invented cats and other predators. 😈 We shoot thousands of prairie dogs. 😯

Hey Elect, when you do pest control for farmers what do you do with all you’re kills? If you eat them its way too many to keep, I see some guys with 50-100 birds at a time. Do you disposed of them or does the farmer?

Nice shooting! You can prepare nice lunch

Eelect, nice shooting! Do you see the 25 giving any advantage over the 22 on these birds and distances?

I have taken more Pigeons with my 22 than with the 25. That is mainly because I just shoot it more. The 25 is more forgiving when shot placement is off a bit. There is something about the 25 that I can’t explain but it feels great hitting a pigeon with it. I had 25 with me the other day when it was windy and was hitting starlings at 90-100 yards. I would not have bothered with 22. Using the 25 on starlings is very exciting too because it knocks them down like crazy. Its a blast to shoot but more expensive. You don’t want to shoot 100 rounds a day with it for these smaller creatures

How do you go about getting permission to go shoot at a dairy barn????
Do you know the people?
Do you just go up and ask,?
I got the word out with a few Cowboys in my area , (The real ones that rope cows, Heard cows to different sections of the ranch.) (son-in-law)
I just ask if they know of any barns that have a problem with pest birds sparrows , Pigeons , Starlings. That I can help get rid of with no harm to any livestock,,, A flat nothing so far…

I started with pesting on a farm which were people we got to know and I was afraid to ask till it came up in a conversation with the owner of the farm were he stated something about those darn sparrows and pigeons. It was history ever since. The other farm belongs to his other boy which has a smaller farm. Just last week as I was coming back from the farms with 2 sparrows under my belt I decided to take a look at this BIG farm which was pretty close to the other two I was shooting at. It was pretty clear it was over run with starlings and sparrows. I decided to bite the bullet and ask for the owner. Low and behold the first guy I met was one of them. I started out by saying I’m pesting on some other farms and have cleaned them all out and if he was interested in getting his thinned out as well. Told him these bird eat away a lot of his profit when it get really cold. He went on to say they tried the DNR and poison but nothing really worked long term. So I said I can really help. Then comes the money question. I just tell him he supplies the sparrows and I supply the solution. Of coarse the no holes in the roof no lead in the feed and don’t get hurt. I was one happy camper when he agreed to let me shoot there. I have cleaned at least 130-150 birds in the last week. I have gotten 6 pigeons so far.
