Q:

problem like reeleone

REELONE,

Did you ever figure out whats causing the large groups? I have had the same problem since I got mine, although sometimes it would group tight at 50 yards – othertimes 2″ – 3″ groups. I check the end but no signs of clipping, tried all speeds from 880 to 990 (really spiraled at high speeds). Last week it shot a pellet that sounded like a .22 lr., even though I had Donnys ldc on. I took it apart, but everything seemed fine, and shot a few strings @ 910 with es of 10 and sd of 4. Anyone know what happened?

I thought it was me all this time, and I finally bought a vice & camera. I was amazed – about 1/2 the shots would go up, down, left & right… and sometimes spiral.

Now, I’m still thinking user error with a new camera – I’ll take more slo mo videos and make sure I’m doing it right. Meanwhile, did anyone have a similar problem? could it be something wrong with the barrel?

Sorry for the double post, I just wanted to try a different format for the upload 😳

Finally had a chance to do a shot string. I hope it comes out in the post. I cleaned the barrel with 2 pulls with ballistol then 3 dry patches x 4 times, then shot 4 magazines of 9 pellets (36 shots) – tight groups sometimes, but in different locations. Then I shot 16 strings of 5 shots, while rotating through the 4 magazines I have to see if there was some pattern. Still kinda all over the place except for target # 12. Any thoughts on this grouping? I also made a video of all the shots, I’ll try to se if it will upload, but it will be a big file and take over an hour to watch if I dont do some editing.

Thanks all, I’ll do that next week – gotta work through the weekend again

You may be surprised how many times I have had a wandering zero on my scopes. I have gotten to the point where I do not buy cheap Chinese scopes. The way you check the gun is first remount the scope. Make sure everything is tight. Secondly make sure you are not canting the scope. Scope cant is common in bullpups. Then now that these problems are addressed shoot a shot string. Start at 210 bar and shoot down to 120. Record FPS and extreme spread. Check the baffles for strikes. If all these things are right and you’re still getting shit groups then mount another scope or try that scope on a second gun. The last resort is to disassemble the gun, clean the regulator check the barrel tension and mount. I believe the problem is more simple than your think. Gerad is right you need a shot string.

If you put the gun in vise and you still have accuracy problem it’s not the scope. Try a full chrony string so we can see what is happening

Is there a simple way to test if the scope is not holding a zero or does it have to be done at the factory. If I set the scope in a vice and zeroed it on a target, then played with the el & win knobs, then went back to original setting, would this indicate if there was a problem?

I do have some accuracy problems when first receive my R3M, grouping are all over the places. group 1 is dead on, 2nd is up 3rd is right and so far…. turn out it was my Hawke scope, I send it in and they confirmed that it’s not holding zero.

on my 5th tin of pellets now, as for leaking regulator o-rings, would that mean that i lose pressure? it seems to hold between outings

Cleaned after 2 tins (750), then after each, then halfway through the tin. 2 patchworms with ballistol & @ 5 dry ones then repeat again per cleaning

You should run a chrony string from 220 to 110 bar so we can see the speed variation
did you clean your barrel? How many shots down the barrel before you clean?

Its a R3M, with jsb 25.39g, with the same magazine. I’ll try different magazines, with different speeds & a some other pellets next week whin I can set a day aside for testing and get back to you. I also gotta figure how to attach videos.

I have a Hawke sidewinder 6-24 x 56, and I’ll do the testing @ 50 yds unless anyone has a preferred distance, scope power & camera power for the best videos?

o-rings inside of the regulator may be leaking

Please also include your videos. At which speed did you observe spiralling?

What caliber are you shooting? Pellets? R3m? Do you use the same magazine when you test? Is ther a poi shift when you change magazine?
