Q:

Problem with cocking my Edgun

I have had my Edgun R3 .22 cal standard for about 6 months and have made no adjustments to it yet, as I am still in the breaking in process.

The gun occasionally failed to cock when pulling back the bolt, and now it fails to cock about 90 % of the time I pull back on the bolt. Can someone tell me exactly what adjustment I need to do so that the gun will cock correctly? Thanks so much.

Dear Doctor Evil…

The Baron von Ville cannot do as you ask. His fingers are too sticky! (He gets quite excited when peckering out a message on his mobile device)

Further, kindly send him 25 Euros to permit him to have his “device” properly cleaned and serviced. If possible, he might have enough left to get his phone cleaned up as well.

FYI – there are two things i wonΒ΄t do – not even under a gun point:

1 – I donΒ΄t clean my “device”. Ever. Not since the summer of Β΄83.
2 – I donΒ΄t wash my underwear. I turn them over, inside out, every two weeks or so but i never, ever wash them.

Drunk Uncle… Doh! I mean Dear Uncle

After some consideration I’ve made a donation of 50 euros so he can be sanitized and by a bulk of latex gloves for future endeavors and keep the digits sticky free.

Sincerely yours

problem solved When my 2.5 was new I disconected trigger assy and rotated one turn. This what everyone said to do including ED
Disregard,I just remembered the 3.0 is different, but I`m blaming this on Tony for making me wait a year and a half for my R3 πŸ˜•

I coincidentally had this happen on my .25 standard Matador last night. Great timing. I just used some blue Loctite after cleaning the threads where it would sit and tightened the little nut back. Works like a champ again. Lets see if it holds. πŸ™„

The only time I have had issue it was the little nut backing off the spring thing.

quote Mrnewbie:

Hey Hoot..

Don’t forget, that washer and nut play a part in how the trigger system works.
If the spring is too light or nut backs off..the gun wont cock.
So if your messing around with the front and rear screws and the gun won’t cock…..well, think about that spring and nut also..

just sayin..

A Word of warning: Using words “cock” and “nut” this many times in one reply may result in obscene comments from those less gifted.

My hats off to you AKay πŸ˜†

Tearing apart the trigger group on the Edgun is a feat I have not attempted.

My problem was not the trigger’s 1st or 2nd stage adjustment or the nut that adjusts the sear’s return spring. It was the sharp edges on the sear parts and other rubbing surfaces that needed to be polished (not where the sear engages the hammer). It was a time consuming process to take it all apart and polish those contact points. I even switched out the washer that touches the spring and added a washer on the nut side. The first washer was hardened steel and had sharp edges and might have increased the friction where it travels. The spring next to the nut end looked bound and a washer helped keep it alined.

I have put over a thousand pellets through the gun and have had no more issues of the sear not engaging.

Two more screws may be at fault.

The R3 has two trigger adjustment screws that also tend to move over time. The one closest to the trigger, if turned too far clockwise, will not allow the sear to engage, and the gun won’t cock. The screw behind it can move as well. (I never have figured out exactly what that back screw really does)

I had my trigger adjusted to where I wanted it, but after a week, the gun had a habit of going off, and not cocking…both of which I find unacceptable. It was easy for me to see the problem, because the way to adjust the trigger length of pull and ounces of pressure to let off, is to adjust these two screws, and it’s not a simple or easy task. Easy to get to, metric hex wrench needed, but the little rascals don’t do what you would expect them to do.

I want a light first stage coming to an abrupt halt at the second stage…just enough to “tap” it lightly to know where I’m at. Then, I want a very crisp and light sear release, when I apply pressure to the second stage. That has been problematic. I can get the first stage to more or less do what I want, but the second stage is either very light, near to not letting the bolt cock the gun, or it’s several pounds of pressure to let off. Seems to be little middle ground on this gun. Hex wrench turns by 1/8th turn, and I finally got it to where I can live with it. I’m not happy with it, but I can live with it and not shoot my toe off.

Just another thought to toss into your brain hamper!

Sniper,

Did locking the nut shown fix the problem? I had the same problem and tightening the nut did not solve it. I ended up polishing the whole linkage at possible rubbing points. Let me know if you need me to describe what I did?
