Q:

Problem with the Matador and maybe solved??

Hey guys,

Can someone please confirm my possible solution for a problem I had (have)?

You now the O-Rings on your matador and its loading pen:

Well, these o-rings seem to get broken every 200-300 pellets which is tooooooo fast!!
I notice this when I feel air blown on my cheek and less consistency and a louder *pssss* in my ear..

After 3 times changing it, I decided to have a look at the possible cause.

I noticed when I loaded a pellet, sometimes the breech (or what is this called) is not firmly secured and is a bit loose (the not gray looking part in the picture):

So I noticed this part is held by this little screw (1 on both sides):

Now I fitted this one tight again with some NAIL STOPPER. Not Lock-tight!

This is the screw without the stock (right) and I noticed the other on the left also being loose:

Now I’ve put everything back together, all screws are very tight, but when you look you’ll keep seeing a small small not firmly closing gap like this:

Is this also the case with you guys???
ED, is this normal??
What should I do to resolve??
Is this idd causing the o-rings to break that fast??

Thank you for your super reply here!

Hi Kazzz.

The gap isn’t causing your problems. You should be able to loosen the 2 screws at the rear of the block and move it forward to close that gap. The gap doesn’t hurt anything as the loading port is part of the front breech block and I don’t think that the probe’s O rings ever come out of the back of it when you cock the gun.

Are you using silicone (divers) grease on the O rings? If not, you should be.

My .22 standard would eat the standard O rings about every 500 shots. I got tired of changing them out and got some 90 duro O rings from here:

ksauer@sealingspecialties.com

Ken Sauer is a great guy to do business with.

There is a $20.00 minimum order, 500 of them cost $20.00 plus shipping. I got 500 of them, 3 mm ID X 1 mm cross section X 5 mm OD 90 duro O rings. I have been sending out 20 to every Matador owner that posts having a problem with the O rings. I am down to my last few and need to order more. I just sent out 20 O rings each to 2 guys this week.

The stock O rings are 70-75 duro. Duro is a hardness scale, the higher the number, the harder. Ken’s 90 duro O rings last me for 1000’s of shots.

If you have any questions, just ask or PM me.
