Proud new Vulcan owner (and forum member)

New member here.
Just returned from the range and have a few questions on my Vulcan. I’m new to PCPs, this is my first one, but have been shooting springers for years (TX200).
My Vulcan is a .22, shooting JSB heavys at 920 (a bit hot maybe?) I would like get it down in the 880-890s. I don’t need all this power and would rather save on air. I know i can just adjust the hst and be done with it but i guess that is not the optimal way to do it? Maybe a better way is to turn the reg down 15-20 bars? How much do i have to back the adjuster on the reg to reach 120 bars?
I’m extremely pleased with my Vulcan. It’s accurate, quiet and very well made.

Am I the only one with the new HST adjuster? No more “special tools” needed.

Yup just buy lots of pellets and shoot the dickens out of it before you start thinking about making changes. Adjusting the trigger is OK. Oh ya filling with air is OK too.
First of you can give the gun some time. It will get better the more you shoot it. To me it looks like 120 BAR is your number to stop shooting. Honestly for a brand new gun I wouldn’t touch it, just enjoy. Congrats on the new gun.

I’m quite happy with that, Don’t really know what it means :winkn: (my first PCP-rifle), but I guess it comes very smootly off the reg at around 140 and I get 10-15 useful shots after that.
Anyone have any pointers on how to improve on this?

I am just using a scuba tank as source of air. I am interested to know how does a Vulcan shoot if filled to 170bars down to 110bars?
I’ll do a string over the chrono, going from 200 to 110 bars. Might take a few hours, but it should be up tonight.

I turned mine down to 880 via the hst and all is good. It shoots and feels much smother. Haven’t shot any strings over the chrony yet but i shot it down to around 110 bars without any shift in poi at 55 yards..

Oak 30 FPE has killed 27 woodchuck so far this year. From 9 yards to 97 yards. Best thing about it is they never saw or heard it cuming.
850 and 1000 FPS this is from 259mps to 304mps – this is impossible does not effect on consistency or efficiency !!! Minor adjustment is maybe 50fps but not 150fps
This was true on my cricket but both my Taipan and Vulcan were able to handle that much adjustment without the regulator being touched. The efficiency varied only 2-3 joules/CC. Some people like to tinker but really it’s not necessary. Most importantly the guns both remained accurate.

Oak, I just crono’d mine and got 77 good shots from 912 to 919 before if fell off the reg. I got one of Johns HST adjusters coming hopefully I’ll have it next week.. Think I’ll back it down to 880 and see what happens.
No need to make things harder than they have to be.
A halfish counter clock wise turn of the HST will get you where you want to be and likely make those fliers disappear. (A good barrel cleaning might as well)
You can use two very small drill bits or allen keys and a third to apply leverage to turn the HST.
As to regulator/HST harmony the velocity/pellet combo/shot count you are looking for/using is well within the factory reg. settings with HST manipulation.
