Putting together a shoot
I read the P.A. report almost daily. I was wondering if there was any interest in putting together a A.F. guns or any airguns shoot? I know were all scattered all over, so i’m just throwing this out there to see who’s where. I know Adam is down south somewhere (where are you Adam? L.A.?) I’m in Merced,CA. which is in the central valley, two hours south of Sac., one hour north of Fresno, two hours east of (Heaven aka Monterey) the coast. Two hours west of Y.N.P. I’d be more than willing to drive two hours in any direction if we could put something together. Is there any interest?

How about San Luis / Los Banos area for a gathering. Right in the middle of all of us Californian’s.

Yeah that would work too. What do you think Doug? Just a little ways down I-5 from you.
Hey Mike where are you at?
Doug are you talking about that place that’s at the bottom of the 580 hill as you just hit the flats ? It’s a sportmens club north of W-580? I can’t remember the name but i think it’s a very well established facility.
Los Banos is a hundred miles away, I could no doubt be talked into driving down and shooting some targets with like minded chaps, but I can’t speak for the others. Most of us have hunting opportunities at about that same distance that would probably be of more interest to them (just a guess).
I assume ‘San Luis’ is SLO (Not one of the other two San Luises in Calif), over 200 miles out from here. I suspect even those willing to drive an hour and a half will balk at three hours down (and as much back). Again, I’m prone to doing things that don’t make all that much sense. But to be frank, Ground Squirrels and other ‘farm pests’ at half the distance are kinda more attractive…….then again, I don’t know how charming you guys are in the flesh do I?
I’ll ask ‘the guys’ (actually there’s a woman who shoots with us sometimes as well) this Wednesday and see how the wind is blowing. Like I said we shoot at the range (most) Wednesdays.

Doug,
I want to come play.
Damn Gas Prices. Oh ya and the 5 hour drive does not help.
how about print targets from free target .com and post your targets here? you can shoot 50 yards or for the long range crowd you could shoot at longer distances!!! just my 2 pennys worth kingpin.
SS (and Talon shooters everywhere),
Cool. We can do a Saturday. In fact we may have another player by then. One of ‘the usual suspects’ shot my (stock) .22 yesterday. Good guy, a Brit with impressive gun experience and long time love of springers. He’s cleary on the garden path to the dark side. I think his ‘next gun’, a .177 HW 50s, has started to morph to a PCP. My money’s on a Talon. I wasn’t at all sure I was going to get mine back. He hauled his folded up target into lunch to show off once again to all (5) of us…..at one point I thought the waitress was going to end up being pulled into it..
Maybe John will have his Super Condor back from AH by then. Impressive machine, for sure. And as I said, hopefully the Dutchman will be here again and able to join in. He won’t have a Talon (or Condor) to shoot, but he can put you to shame with yours……
I”ll ‘rouse the rabble’ at this end and let the guys know what’s being planned.
Standing by (and trying to stay cool).

I’ll ask my friend when is his next weekend off.
There’s a third Condor in the group, but John’s .25 is back in the shop, he still hasn’t sorted it all out yet.
Too bad there’s not any good public hunting in the area.
If we can sort out a good time between heatwaves and figure out a good place I can guarantee at least 3 of us……

Two more condors here. Livermore’s not that far of a drive for us.
Cool. LIke I said, we already shoot Wednesdays…good fun. A Saturday could for sure be scheduled. Vincent (‘the Dutchman’) used to shoot with us, he’s a Condor kinda guy as well (unfortunatlely his gun is ‘back home’). He’s coming out again, good guy, grabbed John’s new Condor and took after a coke can size bit of cardboard at 100 yards…..

Kingpin,
I don’t think we need a big ranking system competition between us. The biggest thing we need is to make sure nuglor doesn’t kill wok.
Kevlar is reccomended. 😛

ill try to explain the postal shoot. its simple everyone shoots the same event same targets yardage etc. then all scores are sent to a central location to be ranked. you would be on the honor system. or each club could put on the same match etc. the results could be posted here. kingpin
