Q:

Question for anyone interested in the E-TaCREG

Guys,

Working out the final details on the E-TaCREG. (This is the E-TaC for the HPA bottle)

What velocity do you guys want out of a 24-inch barrel?

Thanks,
Jim

You know what, I think it is a Condor valve. It has the .250″ dia valve stem. Not sure what generation. I think it came off an old AF Co2 Adapter (?)

I’ve been monkeying with it a bit. I honestly think the valve itself is the biggest limiting factor. It limits my ability to make a big volume and let it into the back of the pellet quickly. I may look into a total redesign for the E-TaC to remove the unnecessary “baggage”the original carries.

We shall see.

Jim

ps. If anyone wishes to point me toward a picture to help me understand the differences in the valve generations and styles, I’d sure appreciate it.

I figured you would be Rob 😆 And Jim like SSS said I guess I never thought to ask about the valve you were using if it is a Talon a high flow is going to change things 😉

I need some clarification on this matter. How does the valve affect things on a “regulated” valve? Unless a talon valve is more restrictive than the reg.???

Sam,
The reg does not typically flow any ‘pellet-propelling’ air during the shot. The valve empties the regulated air and the regulator tries to fill it back up. The regulator has nothing to do with the hammer hitting the tophat and letting air into the barrel. The reg only fills the chamber back up to 2000psi to let it happen again.

HTH,
Jim

As I understand it you are doing all your testing with a talon valve ? You may need to aquire a condor hi-flow valve and play around with it. I’m sure you will get much higher velocities at lower pressures.

God I am starting to sound like Rob 😆 Couldn’t help myself Rob bet you will like the tea though!!

I’m flattered…. 😳

haha…. 😛

Jim that goes for me to I need to brush up on my Air volumes tanks sizes how much air for one fucking pellet lets see oh yea tank length regulators holy shit no wonder it is hard to do what you are doing I don’t get it!! back to what I was saying you deserve a few cases of beer to start off with and another collection from all of us to buy you a cup like Pab has to drink your tea from 😉 Then we can all get on line and drink tea allot of it then pee! great job you are doing I hope more get in here and see what they have to say to me now is the time not hold back and tell you after the fact!! but you know I guess we are all guilty of maybe to much power and we all now anything over 1000 fps is a waste of time with most pellets maybe the heavies do good, I do like your ambition to work on this project and I don’t want you to get discouraged by anything I or anyone says so far you have allready done what some have tried to do and got it right so keep up the great work maybe we would be better off a might lower in fps, I will bet whatever it is we are taking out be a critter or target they will never know the difference God I am starting to sound like Rob 😆 Couldn’t help myself Rob bet you will like the tea though!!

You guys sure are generous with Pab’s toys. LOL.

Back to the lathe to make a bigger chamber.

Regards,
Jim

I simply don’t have any 25 cal stuff to work with.

As I mentioned before I need to walk before I run. Hopefully I’ll hit the magic 950 with 18 gr JSBs and sell enough to begin the next great leap into the E-TaC-MeGa-PoW-MoD-DeStRuCt-INAtoR. 🙄

Jim, don’t worry about the .25!
If you can get a reg up and running to hurl the JSB 18gr at 950-1000fps, thats as good as it needs to be! .25 JSB Kings are 25.4gr and maybe just a small step to get those up to those speeds? .25 pellets use air alot better than .22(same as .22 uses air better than .177)
We are a demanding lot. Please don’t take the seemingly lack of positive responses as a knock back.
You want honest opinions so as to push your project in the right direction.

Marmot, I used a chamber that I just roughed out, now Im moving from .22 to .25 and 18″ to 24″ barrel, I need more air to get the kodiaks up to speed.
