Question for anyone interested in the E-TaCREG
Guys,
Working out the final details on the E-TaCREG. (This is the E-TaC for the HPA bottle)
What velocity do you guys want out of a 24-inch barrel?
Thanks,
Jim

I jized in my pants!
X2!!
If anyone is gonna do it, Marmot will 😎 😎
Wow!!!! Keep up the good work Jim. Thread subscribed to. I know this much about Jims stuff,,, It is NICE HIGH quality stuff. Thank you Jim for doing what you do. I can’t wait to see what we wind up with. I know you will get a winner.
Just some thoughts…
I hope Dave doesn’t mind me siting his work “960fps with 18.1 gr with slightly modified talon valve” on his “100mm x 18 mm” reg’d chamber. 18″ barrel.
On my 19″ barrel, I got 887fps with a chamber that is 1/3 the volume of Dave’s. ie: 88% of the velocity at 33% of the volume.
With my 12″ barrel, the velocity did not change even though I nearly doubled the volume.
Regards,
Jim
I’m sure I’m in the minority here! haha….
It will be impossible to please everyone, but MM is doing the best he can. He knows I’m in full support of his progress and products. 😉
My feeling is this…
with an air reservoir that large, you have two options…..
Very high velocity for a ‘decent’ number of shots…..
or….
A TON of regulated shots at a mid velocity. Look at the Air Ranger….. 100+ shots at 18fpe in .177.
…..and our guns are capable. How does 100 shots at 30fpe sound? Been done…. and not with a regulator.
In any case, any advancements in regulating our guns is a positive thing and there will certainly be a market for them. I’m glad Jim has taken steps to head us in that direction.
Well Rob you make a good point to and I think this is good to hear what others think that is what Marmont is looking for I am sure I just don’t see allot of the guys in here going for lower fps or fpe and be happy some will some won’t I guess that I can see where the problem comes up for someone trying to make everyone happy and that probably won’t happen! I am not saying I am right either, just in my opinion like take the Edge for an example seems to do a big shot count and strings I have seen are great but that is with lower fps velocities and that is what that gun was built for sales for that type of shooting. How does the Edgun get what they are getting with the small air tube? so there is a way correct? I am not sure but think they get 950 with a 16 gr pellet and 100 shots per fill if I remember right. Like I told Marmont seems like there would be a way maybe different bottle sizes for what different people want? I really don’t know enough about it right now maybe I will sooner or later 😆 I just know now Marmont is looking for all feedback he can get before he says here it is close enough I know from his post he wants to do good by what he is doing we have had enough guys on here promise things like valves that have not turned out like they said they would mistakes are made for sure but I have seen to many promises on here for mainly valves that people spend good money on and things fall to !#@$#$^^ peices in short order! What we all want and are willing to pay for is something that really works well and regulated Airforce gun is what I think we all would like!!
And Marmont not bashing what you have allready done your strings look great and I still have a question you didn’t answer how are you reg the air pressure I am assuming you say your are using a 2000 psi reg tank the reg are in the tank when you buy them correct? And again this is just my opinion we need more guys that have been at this longer than I have but I do read allot of post and to me seems like with a 18.1 I shoot 16gr pellets also from what I have read they like to keep fps speeds around 950 at that speed things seem to work out well for accuracy and speeds so like I said more people need to chime in here and let you know what they would like the more the better and what you came up with allready might be good for some of us! I just figured now is the time to let you know what some are looking for and some are not 😉
Am I the only one here who is thinking that this would be a great thing at lower velocity?
I’m thinking that the reg would be ideal for lower to mid velocity.
In .22
24 inch barrel…. 32-35fpe
18 inch barrel ….22-24fpe
12 inch barrel ….18-22fpe
.177
18 inch barrel 12-14fpe
Personally, I dont see the point of using the reg for high power…. just seems as though you are getting diminishing returns for your work. Sure, it’s nice to say that your Condor is shooting at 80fpe, but can we really expect a ton of regulated shots out of it?
Even the Daystate 80fpe model was only getting around 20 shots at that level. While not regulated, it’s still quite a bit more refined than our guns.
Looking good Marmot, but as Eddie says, a little low on speed?
Guys generally shoot 950 odd with 18 and 21 grain in .22, again, as Eddie said.
I’d have creamed my pants if it was doing 950 on .25 31g 😆
I’m te thinking it needs a bit more….
Well, Eddie, this is with a Paintball tank of your choosing. I am testing with a 22ci tank to show the benefits of regulating without having to shoot 100 pellets every time I do it. You can double the shot count for a 48 ci tank.
Regulating a tank is not the best way to get huge power. It is, however, the best way to balance power and shot count with consistent shot velocities.
If the consensus is that these numbers are below the hopes and dreams of the prospective buyers, I will have to increase the diameter of the E-TaC to make more room for the reservoir. I don’t want to make it any longer, especially for the 53ci tank users.
I’d like more input so I don’t put waste everyone’s time with a sub-par performer.
The total added length is 3.812″ to the length of your bottle.
Jim
What does this do to the total lenght of the gun from a stock one with the tank and Etac total? I know you are going to allot of work to get this up to par I am sure there will be more guys chime in I personally would like to see the fps speeds a bit more towards 1000 fps with the 24″ and a strong 950 with an 18″ a 12″ barrel maybe 850 this said with a pellet of 18.1 or higher! this seems to me what most are wanting and if it can be achieved for a great shot string of several shots this would be good 😆 I don’t claim to have a allot of knowledge on what it takes to do what you are doing but I do know speeds are going to be what everyone is looking for with little variation just my opinion and I know on your post that is what you are looking for lets see what others say!! And yes your strings look good on the tank and reg you are using also the reg is in the tank I am assuming?
Hey Eddie,
Yes, this is all regulated with a 3000psi fill pressure and a 2000 psi regulator.
I am very happy with the shot numbers considering the tiny tank.
The shots are from 3000psi to 2000 psi.
Jim
I think 16gr pellets for testing is ok 18.1 allot of guys use these and 21 gr pellets personally I like the 18.1 bit more weight and still do good at longer yardage’s So is this still un regulated Etac or Reg didn’t see anything posted on either maybe you mentioned it and I missed it I do that allot 🙄 what were the fill pressures and such? Eddie and by the way pictures look great!!

This is my mule. When finished it will be black and fluted like all the rest. There will be no fill or gauge on it as the JDS reg will have them.
The other thing not on this mule that is needed is the setscrew that holds the reg and E-TaC together.
As you can see, it’s really just an E-TaCo2 with a different bottom end.
It adds 3.812″ to the length of pull, regulator included. It is quite comfortable with the 48CI tank I have. A bit long with the 22 on it in these pictures, but not unmanageable by any means.
Jim
Looking good.
Lets see some picts 😀

I simply don’t have any 25 cal stuff to work with.
As I mentioned before I need to walk before I run. Hopefully I’ll hit the magic 950 with 18 gr JSBs and sell enough to begin the next great leap into the E-TaC-MeGa-PoW-MoD-DeStRuCt-INAtoR. 🙄
