Q:

Question for Ed

Ok, I realise that EDguns are built with barrels optimized shoot the JSB well,

But what if someone would prefer to shoot other pellets ? ….specifically .25 cal Benjamin domes and H&N Baracuda, do EDguns shoot those pellets well ?

Now, This gun is extremely interesting.

Given that the Edgun Platforms seem to have pretty good power capability, am I right to believe that this gun in .25 would be more than capable to shoot the 28gr Benjamin at 900-950 fps and also the 31gr Baracuda at 900-950 fps ?

Thanks in advance.

The Benjamins shoots good out to 50 meter!

After some tuning I got 110 joule out my choked R3 long using .25 flatnosed 50 grains cast bullits.
So theoreticly it must be possible that the unchoked R4 reaches the 100 joule, 74 Fpe.

But till now I did not find a .25 cast bullit the gives me match worthy grooping.

Regards, Robert.

I would be more than happy with a 70-80 FPE one that can shoot heavy pellets and Cast in the 45-50gr range

I don’t know much about the R4 magnum (I named it that, so if you see it later I get credit  ) but my Interest peaked when Ed announced it. I would like a 50-100 foot pound slug gun that I could use a G1 drag profile on. I am not looking for a 300 foot pound gun. Something where I could have lighter slugs made, not super air hungry but have the bullet density that can penetrate heavy bone and muscle. This would keep the sound profile low, and really be a good long range rig

I disagree that it is poorly made barrels that require choke. If a pellet were perfectly matched to the bore it may be possible to shoot an unchoked barrel as well as one with choke but I to date haven’t seen that theory proven.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, I like the Idea of unchocked barrel in a powerful .25 so there’s the cast bullet option.

What exactly is a choke?

If all of the barrels were perfect the choke would not exist at all. The choke is there to mitigate barrel imperfections.

Why shouldn’t the barrel be perfect on a 2 Grand gun ?

The lack of choke may result in worse accuracy unless the barrel is perfect.

And if this gun comes with an unchocked barrel like I’ve heard of the R4 it would make her even more interesting :biggrinn:

That gun looks great, looks so solid, built like a tank.

That carbine I would like to see it with an AR folding stock. I want one too

Sounds Good, I can deal with a flyer occasionally,…yeah I gathered that the Edguns could easily show some serious power in .25 given heavier ammo

That new carbine model looks sweet

Manny the baracuda match will do that 1/2 inch at 50. So will the Benny’s. The EDgun will produce a lot of power because of how efficient the design is.

The H&N will have moments where you are like hot damn these pellets are incredible. Then you’ll get a flyer. This is happened to me on every Russian/Czech gun I have owned.
