Question for Ed
Ok, I realise that EDguns are built with barrels optimized shoot the JSB well,
But what if someone would prefer to shoot other pellets ? ….specifically .25 cal Benjamin domes and H&N Baracuda, do EDguns shoot those pellets well ?
Now, This gun is extremely interesting.

Given that the Edgun Platforms seem to have pretty good power capability, am I right to believe that this gun in .25 would be more than capable to shoot the 28gr Benjamin at 900-950 fps and also the 31gr Baracuda at 900-950 fps ?

No that’s why I went off on a tangent. But that depends on what your definition of shoot well means. My definition is sub MOA at 100 yards.

Well like all riflemen can we could fill 1000 pages arguing about ballistics and caliber selection.
For this discussion we will stick to what I consider the battle between the .30 and .25. For those of us who own .30 caliber pellet guns we know how poorly the JSB is manufactured. If you were going to shoot for extreme accuracy pellet sorting is mandatory. The pellet is not balanced and it very prone to unstable flight. The .25 MKII are much more consistent in weight however. Thre shape of the MKII lends itself to be a more balanced round.
Because of this I believe that a 65 foot pound .25 is very possible. I will make a prediction. If Ed’s new R4 will shoot the MKII .25s well we will see him taking those black grouse he hunts at long range with one. Ed will retire his .30 for hunting black grouse.

Edgun R3 is very accurate. It won 100 meter match in Netherlands on Aug. 2013. http://100mairgun.nl/post/2013/08/EDguns-domineren-100m-wedstrijd-te-Helmond.aspx We’re expecting R4 is better.

I think you are coming to the same/similar conclusions of those having chosen to replace the 7.62×51 NATO round with the 5.56×45 NATO.
(Not considering only the advantage of the size and weight of the cartridge but also the ballistic specs).

In fact, I used in forces both AKMS (7.62×39) and AKC-74 (5.45×39) and while in the battle I prefer 7.62×39 for sure.

When I have first R4 to test I will know what we can achieve with it.

Alright Ed let’s talk then about what I want. (others will want this too, they just don’t know it yet) I need your R4 to shoot the JSB .25s heavies (34 grain) at 920-930. Trust me when I tell you this will absolutely smoke game and have a better BC than the .30 JSB. It will also have better gyroscopic stability!
Matador R4 is supposed to be set to heavier pellets and high speeds.
I have tried them in my Eddie, I can answer the question for you if you like…
