Question for those shooting the 25 cast
I’m using 25 cal jsb’s and love how they group, but I’m tired of the fliers. Those of you who are casting and/or using cast heavies are you still getting these damn fliers? I like the jsb’s but a crazy swirling flier two inches from the group center is getting old! I’ve casted for over 40yrs probably..and guess I could for this rifle..but buying pellets just simple.

What kind of a press do you need for that CH die. The reason I like the Lee sizing die, and I really don’t like mjuch of anything else made by lee, is it doesnot deform the bullets as much.
I conintue to get three of four shots into a one hole group and then one or two flyers with the cast bullets, but the flyers are starting to not fly as far out of the group.
But it is hard to find a airgun round that you make yourself that makes that kind of power. And for what I use it for, with that bullet the accuracy is just fine.

Today I shot two five shot groups at 62 yds and both were under an inch with King’s. I usually avg around an inch at this distance and I do put three in a ragged hole every once in a while but I have a flier ever so often that just gripes me. Most of my groups are three in a hole with two just outside. I do all my shooting off a bipod with no rear rest..just my shoulder and cupped hand.
Little off subject but I just received my PS-22 and was comparing POI with and without the PS-22 and found POI’s were dead on but at 4 Oclock just inside a three inch bull at 62 yds. Later after removing the PS-22 (as I was earlier shooting at 5X) I shot another group in the dark using a flashlight without the PS-22 and at 12X and found my POI back in the center of the bull. What a bitch… POI moving as I change power. That’s what I get for using a cheap scope. At my age you would think I would know better!
I now wonder if some of the bitching about the PS-22 POI changing when using it, are just scope problems showing up because some are now using their scopes at lower powers with the PS-22 that they usually don’t use and it’s the day-scope that’s causing the POI shifts instead of the PS-22.
Roachcreek, I haven’t ordered the 25 RCBS mold yet. I’m still interested in your findings after sizing. I swear..I bet CH die would be as quick as Lee Precision on the sizing die.
Yes I am still getting flyers with cast bullets and I don’t get them with JSB’s Kings. I average .6 ” at 35 yards with the 52 grain cast bullets, but a flyer in every other group takes it out to 1.2 to 1.5.
However I am still not sizing these yet, my sizing die from Lee Prescision is still not here yet.
So at this point my most accurate pellet is the kIng. However I went to the cast bullets and shoot them almost exclusively now for the 100 to 120 FPE power.
When I get the sizer die I will post on the differences if any.
Most 25’s shoot the kIngs very well, perhaps you have other problems. I have at times had bad groups with Kings, but it is always a loose top hat to blame.

Weigh your pellets..
I use the 16 grainers, and the difference is BIG in 1 box 🙂
after this, you start looking at the back of the pellets, see if it is still nice and round.. and then, you can see if the diameter is still correct!

I was just running off at the mouth about CH being just as quick as Lee but based on your wait, I don’t know. CH makes custom bullet swaging and sizing dies among other reloading tools but I think all their dies are 7/8-14 thread. Personally I don’t use their dies as I have a Corbin swaging press which uses bigger dies that will not work in a reloading press. I have used push-through sizing dies for sizing some jacketed bullets after they were swaged for some applications. I can’t speak for the inside finish of CH sizing dies but have used Corbin’s. I would think if these dies are used for sizing jacketed bullets the finish would have to be slick like my Corbin die. CH dies are not that expensive (around $65 I think) but no comparison with the Lee as quality. Lee dies have a short section in the die (rough as hell) that sizes and I have polished the hell out of some to open up for a larger size. You will find a sizing die for jacketed bullets have a long gradual taper which is smooth as a baby’s ass..well worth the diff in price. By the way..the wait would be forever with Corbin or some of the other die makers.
