Q:

Quick Q. about air cylinder.

Hi guys,

i want to make a longer Air cylinder for my HW-100 (200BAR) but i just want to know a couple of things for safty.

1-If i use Aluminum, how thick should the walls be ? A guy made one thats 1 1/4″ x 3/16″ tube is that strong enough !?

2-What about the threads ?

3-Would you recommend Stainless Steel ??

Thank you 🙂

Man that translation sucked!!! LOL!

“Was wet – like a mouse”

I like my gina’s wet like mice lol!!!

lol, google translation sux ” Opinion: This tank did not pressure test once. If it was stated working 200, and Verification 300 – a dick was already starting with 280 was noticeably eye blow, and inflated to 300 with a specific strain? ”
Did the guy who made that tank have anything to say ? And what ? It seems from the pictures that the tank didn’t burst, but the threads couldn’t hold since it probably expanded @ 250 Bar.

Do not make an air-test!!! NEWER!!! Only hydrotest!
On russian forum guns.ru one of airgunner was killed to death (it’s not joke, its real). He tested air PCP cylinder made from steel. It blasted and a piece of sharp metal hit him to head.

And one more – about reservoir made of “shit-aluminum” – it bursted on rifle – there are photos:

Who know russian can read all about what happens.

aluminum will only burst open like the picture unlike steel, also like I said only hydro test to twice the filling pressure and if it passes then it’s O.K.

Naser, thats your tube that burst??

If so, how violent was it? Did you fill your pants??!!

Lol It only made a low sort of like “POP” sound, not too loud since it was inside a sealed water tank 😉

Ah!
Good call dude! 😎

For that OD I wouldn’t feel safe with anything less than 5mm wall thickness.

2,5mm is waaaaaaaay too thin. Although I’m kinda amazed to see it take this much pressure. Btw it seems you know what your doing but someone needs to be knowledgeble when building these. So it’s not a job for everyone!

Cheers,

Marc

Thats right Marc, its way too thin, i was greedy :D, i am trying to see if i can get my hands on some titanium, much lither & much stronger too.

I think you will like that big tube when finished and the extra shots a beauty for sure.

My Tank burst at 4300 PSI, yours passed 6500 PSI,not bad. Here are some pictures, also my own valve, workes fine but im not sure how good since i couldnt test it at 200 BAR.
Mine was 37OD & 32ID, i wanted more air, guess need to make it a little thicker.

To anyone who wants to make a tank of their own, dont let anyone freak you out, its not as dangerous as it sounds, as long as you “Hydro-Test” it at twice the pressure.

i’ll leave you with some pictures.

Equation: P = (2*S*T)/((O.D.-2*T)*SF)

P = Fluid Pressure (psi)
T = Pipe Wall Thickness (in)
O.D. = Pipe Outside Diameter (in)
SF = Safety factor (General Calculations 1.5 – 10, Use 1 For Bursting Pressure)
S = Material Strength (psi)Ultimate Tensile strength or Yield strength can be used.
Ultimate should be used to determine the bursting pressure.
Yield can be used for estimating pressures at which permanent deformation begins.

Yeah, I tweaked regulator – throw it away to garbage and install another one into the air cylinder itself – my own construction 🙂 It can transfer 250 bar to 130 without problems like original from HW-100

Look at picture – it’s a back side of air tank, screwed into the rifle:

And this is unscrewed back side of reservoir – You can see reg itself:

Hey south did you try tweaking the req ? i read you can go all the way upto 60J.
