R3M Breech old vs new?
I was able to purchase a R3M breech here about a year ago that came with aluminum mags. The cocking always felt a little rough so when I heard about the new breech I ordered it. After installing it I see or feel no difference at all. Am I doing something wrong?

actually i have complete screw set of my Edgun got from Eduard last time as a service part ,,, he has sent me a bunch of them ,,,, except that ones that appeared in my pics above ,,,those screws that hold the steel plate inside the breech ,,,,
so, i would appreciate if anyone can send me a link of that screw in Amazon or ebay,,, i amy able to buy them then i will try to either fix the breech or damage/spoil it and have to spend another 300 euro ,,, :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn:
also i have 7 mags ,,, enough for one hunting trip

Federal Pigeons are used by FBI as a message carriers and those are a protected breed. If you kill one it’s equivalent for shooting an Federal Agent and that my friend means lifetime in Prison , or in some States lethal injection. Be careful with those Federals …
Hi Hemn! Those Birds look a lot like the ones we call for Jay. They are hunted as a pest over here and belong to the family of Crow Birds. Or maybe they are just similar. I can’t see the heads so it’s hard to tell.

Great pictures and glad to see you out hunting. I too have an observation with respect to the Edgun but not of any importance. New Magazines have been made available recently and I purchased additional mags so I have enough to place in the mag holder, beneath scope rail, while having one in the breech. Perfect in my eyes, giving me the convenience of 45 shots in a day’s outing. Perfect in that the number of shoots equals the amount of one full charge of air in my .25 @ 50 fpe. Now for my observation, the mag holder designed for four mags will only hold 3, just enough of a clearance problem that even my cave-man mechanics can’t force the last one in. Tolerances are just too tight but I am thankful to have the extra mags for the .25R3M.
Sorry to hear of you having such an issue with the screws, seems you were not alone with this issue. John here in the states provided us with a screw package allowing us to up grade the edgun screws. It has also been suggested that an anti-seize should be used to prevent stripping of the screws. I hope you remedy the issue soon. Sorry I’m of little help!
I wonder what Edward has in stored for us in the upcoming year? Personally my idea of a master hunter in bullpup fashion would be a forward bolt in semi auto. Well I’m just speaking out loud and no doubt will catch hell for such a statement.

in fact after getting my R3 many months ago,,, i converted my R3M breech to R3 in a heart beat ,,, :biggrinn: ,,, however i got 2 magazine from the new version, but i never tried anyone of them ,,, i just converted my R3M Edgun to R3 ,,, until last 2 weeks,,, i converted my R3 to R3M due to coming the hunting season ,,, i like the fast follow up shooting ,,,since i some times like to hunt tow or more than two birds (starlings or other birds) on one tree or on place ,,, single loading will take more time than Multi shot mechanism ,,, but after comparing the Old version magazines to the new version which i got recently ( i ordered more 4 mags ,,,because i gave 2 mags to one of my friends ,,,) i realized that Ed has done some modifications ,,, the holes that hold mags at its position with the small pin in the breech is smaller than old version ,,, so ,,, i clearly feel the smooth rotating with the new mags only… i couldn’t modify the hammer pin ,,,because i spoiled three screws on the breech screws inside :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn: 
and i don’t know how to take them out ?? i know some of you spoiled screws and after that you drilled and took it out,,, but i don’t know how to do it,,because i don’t have the right tools for the purpose ,,,
so, a part of smoothness of the new R3M breeches achieved by modified the mags as well,,, and main part due to the hammer pin also ,,

This is good news and edguns never had accuracy issues so probably you will just confirm this.
Apparently Ig720 got a “New R3M Breech Monday Production” …..
Now we have to discover which of the two represents the exception, the smooth cycling or the metal grinding one 😀

I just received a new r3m .22 cal and the bolt cocks smoothly. As compared to my 3 year old .25 cal r3, the r3m is easier to cock probably bc of the hammer spring difference. My r3 is also smoother because it is broken in. I foresee the r3m achieving the same level of smoothness after shooting the hell out of it.
I also chronied my r3m and it is doing well. It is averaging 920 fps w/ 18 gr jsbs with an extreme spread of 10fps over 40 shots. I’m glad it is stable bc I didnt really want to take it apart and adjust the reg.
I’ll probably shoot it this weekend for accuracy. Im expecting typical edgun accuracy iykwim.

Well companies have ups and downs and Edguns (apparently) are currently in the down phase.
The down phase actually started with the multishot version (R3M) and I’m wondering how many customers Ed has lost due to not having a singleshot version anymore.
I remember the times when people was almost ready to sell a kidney to have the funds to buy a Matador.
This reminds my the destiny of the Theoben company, they disappeared from one day to the other, even though for different reasons (apparently mainly financial problems).

So what your saying is you bought another r3m breech and both of them Just show minor changes between them and both cycle the same?…..so your upset you wasted money?

Well I was told the new breech was much smoother than the older versions. After looking at them side by side I noticed no cosmetic changes what so ever besides the newer breech had a black plate on the very bottom vs a stainless steel. I can also confirm the metal mags will work with the new versions as this was not able to be confirmed through Tony. If this is the case I’ll just stick to my old breech. Thanks for the info fellas. I’m hoping someone can elaborate on molding this can round.
Ur…is correct. .. I have pics of both… I prepared a reply with pics and reasons of tough mechanism of old breech. ..i might post it tomorrow or tonight if I have chance. .

As, Hemn said the difference is mainly in the fixing ball positioin. At the old breeches it was fixing the mag at the edge of it, in the new one close to the center, that allows to make the indexing smoothly. New mags, in plastic as well as available. Tony will have some soon. I can also send them directly.
