Rangefinders necessary or not?
Hey guys
With PCP’s effective range of 25-150 yards is a rangefinder necessary? I’m trying to take in consideration that it has a loopy trajectory…which means range finding is more important. I’m also factoring in that some decent range finding can be done with parallax adjustment….although that is not its purpose. What do you guys think; and what do you guys do?
If I was to buy one, I’m thinking about the Leica CRF1000. It is now discontinued and has been replaced by the CRF1000R…..which I think is of little or no gain. Anyways….it’s between $469-499 delivered.

Cool. Ship it to me and I will test it against the Leupold for a few months. 😆
Leica range finder is in. I’ll give it a good run through.
Hi roninoo1,
The Bushnell Yardage Pro ranging from 30-800 yards, but the closest distance I have measured was 22 yards. At closer distance, I used my hand held unit. I shoot and plot my own chart from 15-100 yards. The magnification is set to 8x, zero at 45 yards. At 12x or at the distance closer than 25 yards, it is hard to get a clearest view. It does have limitation at the shorter distance.
I would not expect this scope to have the cleanest view at any distance compare to conventional scopes, but served my purpose we’ll because most of my shots are between 30-75 yards.
No, I have not tried the Burris Eliminator set up. Burris has several models ranging from 800-1600 dollars, depends on where you buy. I am sure there are better models out there but I closed the Bushnell and learned and adapted to it.
Synopsys,
You have a sharp eye. You are totally correct. 1 AirWolf .25, 2 tricked out .22 lg110 hp. 1 FX Elite 25, 1 Fx Boss . 30, multiple Rapids with different calibers and config. And 3 Edguns. And finally the Ben Taylor BT500. Only a few ever got into the US and no longer available. I was told it was one of the last imported and has the upgraded Huggett moderator.
Well for $160 you can get a rangefinder over here. Probably not super accurate, but it will work.
The prices that have been tossed around are for quality rangefinders.
Something tells me your not going to get a Leica in the UK for $160… 😉
Why are they nearly or over $500 over there 😯
One word….Superior Optics
The better glass causes the following two results: stronger laser signal return, more accurate distance measurement, clearer target at greater distances, and the ability to get a laser return from virtually non-reflective targets.
you can get rangefinders that are good to 1 yard up to 150 yards in the uk for less than £100.

Here is my set up. Hope the picture load up.

What is the minimum distance can you range and fire with it when using you Edgun? With that I assume the ballistic programming work with Air rifles if not how are you sighting with it? Have you tried Burris Eliminator setup?
Excellent question, I was going to ask the same thing…
How close, how accurate is the range finding and does it have a normal reticle or an automatic one? This would be an excellent tool for Hunter Field target, it is ‘technically’ within the rules. 😯
I was going to say, I see five or six Rapids, perhaps a Daystate or two, a couple FX’s, two Styers and three EdGuns…
Those BT Rapids are AMAZING and rare… DO NOT SELL THEM, everyone I know who has sold one TOTALLY regrets it!!
No issues with posting non-BP in this section. If you start a non-BP post in the BP section the only downside would be a lack of responses to the topic that you might otherwise get if it was in the other guns section.
We are ALWAYS up for some good airgun pron!!!!

Hi Dr Steele,
most are AZ Rapids, one of them is the Rapid BT500. It is made and tune by Ben Taylor.
Hi Btango05,
the 3rd is the stock Rapid in .22. I am planning a project on it, but haven’t got the time. I wanted to make it a dual caliber airgun by simply changing the barrel and probe assembly. It shot great out of the box, but a little tinkering will not hurt. The 4th on the stairs is the Steyr lg110 hp, customized by AZ. It is super quite and easy to shoot. I usually shoot bench rest at night that’s why it has a laser designator on it. I got the beauty from a trade with Ernest. He has my .22 Metador R3. Ernest, if you read the, you get first dibs if I ever going to sell it.
Thanks KM,
this is a bullpup forum and I do not want to offend anyone. Certainly don’t want to start a riot. Some people are too serious and easily get offended. They forget to have fun. I love air guns in general. If it suites my need and style, I am all over it. Thanks again for reassuring that I am safe to post.

What do you mean “not allowed to post them?” We’ll let you post any and all of them here! 😉 😀
I mean, this IS The TAG! 😀 Not the damed Yellow! 👿
You Post, and We’ll Look! 😉 :8:

Good buy! Here’s some interesting info.
Btw I like the swaro’s but there reticle is just much to course!
Wow! I love the AZs. Are they all theobens and rapids? I wanted to get one but now I’m thinking I just want to find the right .257, .30, or 9mm. We’ll see what pans out. I want a 200yard gun that can drop medium sized game at that distance. And maybe a .22 Lelya in a multishot….great backpack gun!
None the less your collection is amazing….that’s $40k+ on your stairs alone. Impressive.
