Raptor On Order….
I am on the waiting list for the next shipment of Raptors (Omega is identical but different label). After much research I was surprised by the numbers that have been purchased or ordered since early last year (near 50). 😯 In the last few days I have pinged a few folks that have anywhere from 80-120 hours on them and they have been performing admirably. The main issues been shipping or weather (freezing in the warehouse before antifreeze was added) related on several. I will probably run it for a month or so before I consider selling the original Shoebox I have. The Shoebox has performed very well for about 2.5 years and I only replaced the orings once. 😉
The actual speed folks are reporting has been more like 3-4x an F8 but not near a small Bauer or Airtex where the models are near 10x faster. About 45 minutes to top off a 88 cu ft tank from 3000 to 4500 for the Raptor and 25 minutes for my 44 cu ft SCBA tanks which take about 3 hours with the original Shoebox. I also researched used Bauer’s and Airtex (also Chinese) but they start around the $2500 mark if available and most I found were pretty heavily used for paintball and had other issues.

Thanks. I considered for a moment making a much larger investment and selling air but I had no idea what I would be getting into. One of my local paintball stores has an Airtex and I have never heard of him having a problem with it. It gets quite a workout. It was just beyond my needs and budget as this point.
I also considered upgrading to the F8 but you are really near the same dollars once you get all of the necessary components and then it is still 3-4x slower. If the Raptors work out they are right sized for the personal compressor I think including big bore airguns. Actually. if I only get the 100 hours these guys already getting out of them so far with no problems at the fast fill rate it will meet my needs for the next 3-4 years. I like the speed, the quietness, competent easily adjustable auto-shutoff, and the moisture removal system as pluses.
There is nothing from China, nor Italy. It is considered a U.S. product, and the assembly process can be seen on Airetex’s website.
Airetex compressors are built in Dallas, Texas using a 3 stage cast iron cylinder head which is manufactured in Turkey by Alkin.

Knifemaker, it’s a safe guess to say that the Italian made compressor you are referring to is the Nardi Atlantic compressor rather than Airetex.
When I Google it it sounds like based in Italy but manufacturered in China. Not really sure. Either that or there are other “Airtex” companies that are in China making pumps, etc.

Backups are good, especially when it doesn’t involve a hand pump.
Anything new is a risk but it has good support. I have a cast bullet project coming up that will start consuming quite bit more air So I hope it works out. My wife has suggested that I just keep my original Shoebox as a backup so I may end up doing that. I did sell the hand pump to my brother. 😆

I think they will be a big hit once they start coming in by the numbers.
Ive had a few emails with Raptor….
Seems like they want to make this a good dependable product. I asked about what they will do if it breaks and how they are gonna deal with issues.
Cause that is my main concern…. Nothing is perfect and at some point i will need the assistance from raptor for parts or help.
He assured me that he has no intention of selling anyone this product and leaving them hanging….. He also told me that they had a few minor issues with them and had the manufacture make changes .
