Recieved a M-ROD22 / Returning M-ROD22
So I shot my new M-ROD22 today and will be returning it tomorrow… Here’s my notes:
Pros
* Nice looking
* Great trigger
* Semi-smooth action
* Quiet quiet quiet – Neighbor’s dog didn’t bark at 10 yards from my bench rest!
* Power curve is very stable from 2800psi to 2000psi, kudos to Crosman.
* 35 yards – Predator grouped the best at 1.0-1.5″
* Stock 25fpe with Predators but I can get 23fpe with a 177 Big Boy Seniors on a TSS.
* Single shot tray is great; but why on a multi? see below.
Cons
* Can feed 1-2-3-4 pellets into the barrel!!!! the magazine doesn’t prevent multiple feeds. Used the push rod 3 times over 4 hours to prevent a train wreak.
* Accuracy improved with single shot tray vs magazine… maybe pellet damage on feed?
* Barrel band was touching shroud – adjusted.
* 35 yards every 21gn Barracudas was a flier!!!!!!
* Barrel droop, had to shim the scope.
* Heavy.
* Floating barrel connected to shroud is overrated moves when you touch it. I own a floated bull on PB and they don’t flex when you touch them… Did I say crap? crap crap crap.
I picked up my 177 Talon SS and realized how lucky we are after handling that overweight “show boat” of a gun.

Well said – they’ve completely lost my business in PCP. I’m out 2xShipping and 3/4 day fucking around. The AF ergonomics can be a problem but in return we have swappable bottles and the biggest air reservoir in the industry. A laser on the front rail and you’ve got 1.5″ bore to sight.

I fill to 2600-2700psi and can shoot up to 40 yards (second zero). After 40 shots I start to get some drop. I get a further 75-100 shots at 15-20 yards ending pressure 1000psi. I generally run 2600 and refill at 2100, keeping it in a hunting/long range configuration.
Yeah, the MROD 22 situation sucked. But I’m only out 2xFedEx charges and have learned a lot about a gun. I’m sticking with the AF system – it’s been good to me.
do you keep your gun at a specific psi,and only shoot down to a certain place then refill, seems like my condor zero is always changing around.

man i am really sorry to hear about the Marauder. didnt even give her a chance ,or try a different gun, sounds like you changed your mind about what you wanted before you got the gun almost. 🙂
I know people bitch about it being a single shot, but to be honest it is so easy to cock and load it really never becomes an issue. It keeps up with the 410 all day long.
I really do wish though AF would make a gun with the frame about 8″ longer and the barrel 4″ longer, with the handle filled in for rigidity.
Couldn’t agree more. With a Phillips Pellet holder on the side it’s second nature to load the next round – it’s easy easy easy.
My gun hasn’t lost zero in 18 months and keeps on shooting. I’ve never cleaned the frame or barrel. It’s had 1000 rounds through it and is so reliable I won’t touch it until accuracy drops off.

Did not insult me, I have never owned any of those repeaters, I did have a 2240 with a magazine, but you could not double it.

After my Crosman experience I think AF are doing well in the budget PCP rifle segment. Don’t get me wrong, $600 is a lot of money, but consider conventional firearms are just a tube and hammer… the technology is in each cartridge and you pay every time you shoot.
I got my Wok Spartan, its funny, after all those months of shooting the AF – a traditional butt seems weird! But it is more like my existing rifles when I mount it – it’s also more stable.

myself, what I would like to see is a Shortened frame threaded for the AR barrel nut.
True free floated barrel using AR bits
no idiot carry handle, full 1913 rail
side cocker layout
with your butt and an ETAC you end up with a Very comfortable layout using AR flip up iron sights
extend the lower part of the frame and drop you some Bux to do a modded version of your WOK guard
mind you, thats just the frame & not all I would change for my own tastes
then again, everybody’s tastes varies 😉

People use to rag on the Airforce guns mainly because Airforce had their head up their butt when it came to the Condor.
We use to have forum wars over the Airforce guns. Once AF cleaned up there act the reputation has improved dramatically.
First and foremost the AF guns are take down rifles and the ergonomics need help. But they are reliable and tough as nails and not safe queens.
Once you guys stop dicking around with them they settle in and are killing machines.

I should have listened but my budget didn’t stretch… Bring on a Condor! at least I know what I’m getting.
I’ve kept the S410 with a pellet in the bore, and never have had any issues with double-feeding.
Just un-cock the rifle, and close the bolt on an empty hole in the magazine, with ANOTHER open hole in battery.
Then when you re-cock and close the bolt, you do not feed another pellet.
I have NEVER lost a shot due to having one less pellet in the magazine.
If this is too much brain work for you, you shouldn’t be playing with mens toys.

The Evanix Blizzard, Rainforest, Windycity et al., can not be double fed.
Amazing that the FX Royale, AA 410 and MRod, and other high end guns can.
What gets me about the MRod, is that I am new to this PCP field, I have been doing this for 1.5 years, I have a documented learning disability thru a attepmpted murder, yet I can read your fine descriptions and others like 80 Grit and build a PCP or at the very least replace all the parts and improve upon the gun, yet Crosman who has been in this business forever can’t.
Perhaps it is the absence of Chinese in my meager hobbist shop. 😆

Riff Raff–you DID notice that I said MOST of ’em , NOT ALL OF THEM, can be double fed…I am aware of the Evanix system 😀 Don’t get all warped out of shape….I also am aware of how to prevent double feed on my S410, it’s exactly how you stated it…do give me credit for having a little common sense 😆 😆 😆 If it does make you feel better to insult someone, remember I’m just a keyboard click away, always here for ya buddy 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
