Recieved a M-ROD22 / Returning M-ROD22
So I shot my new M-ROD22 today and will be returning it tomorrow… Here’s my notes:
Pros
* Nice looking
* Great trigger
* Semi-smooth action
* Quiet quiet quiet – Neighbor’s dog didn’t bark at 10 yards from my bench rest!
* Power curve is very stable from 2800psi to 2000psi, kudos to Crosman.
* 35 yards – Predator grouped the best at 1.0-1.5″
* Stock 25fpe with Predators but I can get 23fpe with a 177 Big Boy Seniors on a TSS.
* Single shot tray is great; but why on a multi? see below.
Cons
* Can feed 1-2-3-4 pellets into the barrel!!!! the magazine doesn’t prevent multiple feeds. Used the push rod 3 times over 4 hours to prevent a train wreak.
* Accuracy improved with single shot tray vs magazine… maybe pellet damage on feed?
* Barrel band was touching shroud – adjusted.
* 35 yards every 21gn Barracudas was a flier!!!!!!
* Barrel droop, had to shim the scope.
* Heavy.
* Floating barrel connected to shroud is overrated moves when you touch it. I own a floated bull on PB and they don’t flex when you touch them… Did I say crap? crap crap crap.
I picked up my 177 Talon SS and realized how lucky we are after handling that overweight “show boat” of a gun.
If I’ve offended anyone… I don’t care… please share your good experiences on this thread.

Well said – they’ve completely lost my business in PCP. I’m out 2xShipping and 3/4 day fucking around. The AF ergonomics can be a problem but in return we have swappable bottles and the biggest air reservoir in the industry. A laser on the front rail and you’ve got 1.5″ bore to sight.

I keep thinking I need a powerful repeater.
I briefly considered a Mrod, but I don’t want to take a chance on a bad gun, and like other posters have written, it is a gamble.
And then there is the issue of the stock, on that Mrod it is like they thru the baby away and nursed the afterbirth.
I have considered the Rainforest, but the stock breakage in shipping does worry me. I have written to vendors abut shipping it in two boxes, one for the stock and one for the barreled action, but no takers yet.
And I still have my Condor, it is ugly, has many more holes in it than it did when it left the factory, and it has a 25 caliber barrel.
I have cured the terrible stock ergonomics, with a short canted ETAC, and then cured the not being able to unscrew the bottle because of the short ETAC, by not using the two set screws in the bottom of the frame, and instead drilling two set screws in the side to hold the bottle collar in. I fixed the trigger until it is thought actuated or damn close to it.
I took a while to get that 25 caliber option working, at times I wished I had not sold the 22 barrel, but then I discovered Kings and the speeds they fly most comfortable at which translates to 50 FPE.
At 35 yards, they group in the teens, at 50 it is under a 1/2 inch and the best group so far at 100 yards is .75 inch.
I still lust for more power in the Condor, today I send off for 1000 Jerry slugs, I have a duplicate valve coming from Tagdagger, in my Airarcher it will do 500 fps with carbon arrows, so I am thinking with the Jerry slugs it will satisfy that power urge.
But then if I want power I shoot the Ranger 45, it gives 600 FPE at 50 yards and shots well under an inch doing that.
There may be a Rainforest in my future, more probably a Royale, in 400 or 500, but there just is zero chance that a Mrod will cross my doorstep.
But it is not just the Mrod that I don’t like, it is Crosmans lack of consistancy in quality.
I did the 2240/Disco thing, and I kept replacing parts and going up in power, before I was done, I had a car 15 butt, a after market frame that used AR grips, a 8 shot mag, a Disco tube and a after market valve, it would do 22 FPE and the only thing Crosman on it was the hammer and the shortened Disco tube. THe further I got away from Crosman parts, the better and more consistantly it performed.
I read on the Yellow that the Prod suffers from the same disease of poor and inconsistant quality of build and parts.
And now Crosman wants to market a computerized 357?

I’m taking a cash refund. PA gave me an RMA and FedEx packaging is ready.
n2 – stick with AF, get a 25 cal barrel and pair it with your Hi-Flo… or buy a frame+25 without tank from AF direct. You’ll thank me in the long run. The mutli-shot feature of the M-ROD is more dangerous than it is a benefit. Double feed and the gun is disabled until you get back to a push rod.
I have a Condor 24″ .22 on order. I should have it in 2-3 weeks. Once I get that puppy sighted in I’ll post some 50 and 100 yard groups.

sounds like you got every single problem that I have read about all packed inot one gun.

sss shooter nice review, with cobra airguns venom multi shot breech now available a disco can be made into a multishot in all cals. At 1/2 the weight with a 2000psi fill and so many mod’s including a TKO who would want a Mrod at this point . I wouldn’t trade my disco for 2 Mrods. My disco pistol is shooting but far from finished and in time when it’s finished it will blow a Prod away. Right now it’s .22 cal when it’s complete it will be .20 cal and the barrell will be tight to the airtube dialed at 3/4 power it shoots 13.4 grain JSb’s at 695 fps and dam accurate out to 30 yards with a 7 inch barrel the 20cal will be a 9 inch barrel . 
JMO a disco is more fun my small tank 44c at 3200psi gets over 40+fills on this pisco for 20 good shots from 2k down to 1k
A 24″ Condor .22 is my horizon…. I’ll post if/when I get it.
Marauder is the mid level rifle of luck. Mine was good.. but I am stepping it up a notch.

I really like my .25 Marauder. 😀 I am disappointed to hear of your experiences with your .22, but many have reported the same. Crosman should get their .22 barrells from Green Mountain also.

When you posted in the “GENERAL” section about buying an MROD, I tried my best to convince you , without just talking plain down and dirty about the Crosman. BUT I know how it is, I thought I just HAD to have a 1250 Dominator, until I got one 😥 😥 😥 😥 ANOTHER lesson learned the hard way>>>>> The feeding function though is the same on just about all the repeaters…..even my S410 can be double fed (or more)…it’s something you learn the hard way..on it though you just fire the 2 pellets at once and move on 😳 😳 The main problem with Crosman Mrods is that there are SO MANY bad examples that get shipped to customers (QC issues) guys that get a good one seem to be really happy with them..like I said before , for me, it’s toooo heavy, tooo long(BIG) and just “un-wieldly” for a small guy like me. Glad to hear you’re getting a refund with no hassle!!!!!I love PA for that. I will once again, recoommend you think about buying a used Air Arms SA410..wouldn’t cost that much more than the new Mrod, and you’d end up with a repeater that you’d love….get a “CARBINE ” model ❗ ❗ ❗
