Ruger 10/22
I am looking at getting a Ruger 10/22 for some informal target shooting and I was wondering how many of you have them and what setup you have.

Well, I looked at too many guns yesterday, the price on it was $695, it dose have a scope on it it’s a bushy sport view, the action was clean but gritty feeling, and someone had taken a scochbrite pad or something to the barrel and scuffed it all up and it will take alot of work to get it polished up. it looks to me to be the same stock color and all, I’m guessing Richard’s micro, it had a different butt, taf’s looks like the nicer of the two, dude did say it had a trigger job done but he didn’t know exactly what, I did see an over travel stop, and it was stainless or allu. but he really didn’t know much about it, he did tell me he would give it to me for $675 out the door.

Aftermarket barrels go from $175-$300 and stocks go from $125-$275. That stock appears to be top of the line aftermarket and the barrel looks like a Volquartesn (sp?) match barrel with the crazy fluting. That’s just from what I can see in the photo…
He could have:
A Volquartsen billet trigger assembly is $299.
Aftermarket bolt and carrier, $150-$200.
And the list goes on and on….
I purchased the match 10/22 this Saturday, get to pick it up next week! Looked at the barrel and stock prices at Midway and decided the 10/22 price at the gun shop was worth it after all… 😀

Just the barrel and the stock on Tafazfou’s rifle are worth $500… 😉
Tafazfou, what is that thing worth? I saw it’s twin at the pawn shop today and he wanted $450 for it no scope, seems very high to me. but then again he had a dirty beat to hell yugo sks with the fixed five rounder he told me he would take $350 for 🙄

I think you can make the ruger better, but your going to have to modify it to get it to the same level. I have personally shot quarters at 100 yards with a cz 452 varmint (bigger barrel) at 100 yards. Awesome little guns.

I have several in different configurations and stocks. Parts and customizing is very easy and cheap to get and they are easy to strip clean and maintain. I love the weight feel and handling take any 22 ammo with no complaints…think hard before you buy the other one …mostly the look is the appeal
So remington and winchester don’t really compete against cz or ruger then? I think i’ll look into the Cz’s I just hate getting something nice cause i know i’ll be scared to scratch it so maybe ruger if the accuracy is the same.

FYI that is a lrs1 not a lrs2, so it doesn’t have a few of the things that the second version does have. Nothing very substantial but things like a hand rest on the grip and I don’t like the cheek rest as much.
Now what that DOES HAVE that I really wish they kept over to the lrs2 (don’t have any idea why they didn’t ) is the 10 round magazine. That would be amazing to have for the lrs2, but I can live with the 5 round one, since you don’t ever seem to need more than 1 shot. 😀

The 10/22 is a fun platform to mod. My other one has a folding black stock on it and is all ‘tactical’ looking. They are the ‘Mr. Potato Head’ of the rimfire world.

yeah, its about 800-900 dollars into her. wanna get a better trigger system but, instead of spending more money, i will tune her myself…..evenetually when i put these damned airguns down.
the only stock item in the gun is the reciever housing and bolt carrier. all else is after market. the stock is FAJEN and the barrel is from adam and bennet. bought them as a combo deal.
