my old condor put a hole through the dining room wall into the pantry wall and finally ended in the bathroom wall 😯 😯 😯
it had a very light trigger i was all set to shoot forgot to take saftey off so i removed it got settled in to shoot but wasnt set perfect so i adjusted and whoops forgot to take finger off trigger befor moving needless to say that was with the old condor while i was setting it up for eunjins and was spttin em at 1050 😆

LURKER #1: I have had an Accidental discharge of a hunting rifle. Most of us have whether they admit it or not. I had borrowed my fathers Remington 700 varmint rifle and was walking a farm road. The safety is not in the trigger guard an neither was my finger. Released the safety and BOOM. Found out later dad had the same thing happen out in the Shop. We never spoke to each other about this, both thinking just a fluke. These rifles have the infamous Lawyers safety and Remington suffered many lawsuits as a result. Now the remington 700 come with a 10lb trigger pull. Had to have mine tuned down to 3lb pull and wear in from there. Remington did a recall on those rifles.
Dad sold the rifle and years later my brother bought the rifle knowing it’s history.
My brother has possession of the rifle now, and after buying a new 700 I found out about the Lawyers safety. When my brother showed me dads rifle, he ask me what to do? My response, don’t do anything. Use the rifle, don’t use the safety. The flaw with the safety was release the safety. sometimes the gun will discharge. The rifle being kept all original ups the value and collectors status.
Gun Safety is a very serious matter and Shooter/Hunter Safety School and refresher Safety courses for us old fartS should be taken by all of US.

A cross bar safety should have been the original safety on the Talon and condor.
Or better yet they should start milling a slot in the frame like the one on the Edge for a safety.
So true, but better than the Glock trigger safety… 😯 Those ones scare the shit out of me when other people are handling them at the range…
More times than not I find myself forgetting to release the Talon safety and having to reset the sight picture… Then I have to nearly puncture the end of my finger getting it to release the dammed thing…
With the trigger pull on this rifle I don’t see myself getting into trouble without a safety… My IZH is another story entirely. And the PB rifle I have with the Jewell trigger is so light you don’t get anywhere close to the trigger until your ready to destroy whatever it’s pointed at… And this isn’t as light as it can get without bump firing… 😯
But I just dont think safeties inside the trigger guard are that “safe” and the AF safety especially is rough and there have been instances where members guns have fired when releasing the safety.
When I removed my safety I started leaving the gun uncocked until I was ready to fire – heck, I dont think even a stock AF rifle (or most airguns I own) should be carried cocked.
WOW!! That’s the first time I’ve heard an explanation that points to the real solution. A safety external to the trigger guard! What a great observation YN!
WHAT WOULD IT TAKE to install a blocking pin across through the frame that would effectively block the trigger action/hammer release?
Would something like a Remington 870 safety work?
If the AF frame wouldn’t support it alone, maybe the extra beef of the WOK-Gard-AR15 Grip Adapter could be further utilized.
Probably because you or the previous owner decided to grind, polish or otherwise tried to finetune the trigger group internals.
As fine as the AF guns are, the multiple pivot-points of the trigger assembly have got to be one of the most Rube Goldberg arrangements I’ve ever seen. Reminds me of some of the designs I’ve seen for 1800-era mousetraps.
That said, if you suspect the trigger cams have been shaved or modded, consider getting new ones and start from scratch.

Sam, I agree with that 100%.
Safety is a personal issue and a weapon is no safer than the person holding it. However, I learned by accident that there can be extenuating circumstances that can allow an unsafe condition to take one by surprise.
Just like our expert shooters and machinists on this forum have embarrassingly admitted to accidents or serious mistakes that could have cost them their life or limb, I one time had an accidental discharge of a .357. No injury other than a hole in the wall but it happened and was my fault. Although I had been trained in handling firearms and was an active police officer at the time. I had worked a long night and then had to go to the range for annual qualifications. I did good and went home to clean my duty weapon and catch a nap before going back on duty for another night shift. It’s against policy to carry a fired weapon on duty. Hey, I was tired but did a thorough cleaning job and even put a small bit of oil on the hammer and trigger, loaded the weapon to go back in the holster to be ready for any call to duty. Oops, a little too much oil on the side of the trigger. I wiped it and to get it all I pulled the hammer back to expose more of the side of the trigger. Damn, did I say I was tired? I let go of the hammer with my finger still on the trigger and Weeeeeeeeeeeeeheeee…as Mr. Lama says. Now, I’m not accident prone but I have learned to NOT TRUST ANYONE 100%…INCLUDING MYSELF. That accident happened over 30 years ago. That’s twice as long and some of our forum members are old. I haven’t had a second such incident YET, but I know that no matter how safety minded I have become, I still appreciate every extra step that is designed to prevent an accident.
When I told a friend of my accident, he admitted he had killed his kitchen table after cleaning his duty weapon.
So, how many here on this forum have had a mishap with a firearm???
Perhaps just one younger member is capable of learning from my mistake.
And maybe some others will survive a similar mistake in the future and remember this discussion.
On he other hand, I almost killed an inmate in prison one day when he came up behind me and grabbed my shoulder. In an instant I had his juggler pulsing against my fingertips. Adrenaline is great stuff, in less than a heart beat I decided I didn’t want to kill him so I released him from his frozen position against a bunk bed. To bad though, a year and a half later he was out of prison and beat up an elderly lady. SHIT!
So, now I’m wondering if we old farts should care about what influence we have on our younger forum members? So what if they don’t use every bit of safety available and blow a toe off, or worse, wouldn’t that be funny?…..Nah!

I take mine out…..except on one of my Talon’s because it does not cock with the safety removed.
