Q:

Samyang 909 45 bullet mold

I am planning on buying a mold for my 909 and want a mold by lee that will drop them around the size needed. I am hoping to avoid sizing them. I do not mind to much on weight as long as its between 180-230g and has a wide metplate. Any suggestion so I save time & money

Lee sells em for 32 bucks.

Thats some really good info Tofazfou

Thanks for the advice, that’s one of the molds I’ve been looking at do you know what size the largest ring is when dropped out the mold unsized. my gun shoots .457 sized buffalo bullets pretty decent I hope there close to that

X2 what he says.

Off the shelf molds are almost never of the correct size.

You will expect to wait from 3 weeks to 3 months for that sizing die from Lee, Tof I think they are 35 bucks. But really does not matter, they are the best and probably the only game in town.

Congratulations on deciding to roll your own, if you also have a Shoebox, your free to shoot as much as you want.

Having said all that, you might want to look at Accuratemolds.com, he will mke you a mold that will drop them like you want. Butcher who is our resident 909 cast boolit expert here loves the 45-180R, originally meant for cap and ball revolvers, in the Acuratemolds catalogue. But like I say he will make the mold to your diameter specs with the alloy you plan to use.

I have used that bullet in my Ranger 45 and it was scary accurate.

Personally I consider Lee molds junk, sorry just me.

Picking a mold that fits EXACTLY to your gun without SIZING is next to impossible considering molds are not made for European/Asian bores. In other words, the sam yang 909 has an odd size barrel/bore diameter at about .456 diameter. So to have an American caliber drop at .456 without sizing is pretty hard.

I would think though that the R.E.A.L. 200 gr bullet in 45 cal would be a good shooter for that gun considering its about the same power as my Dragon Slayer 454. But you would have to buy a sizing die that’s custom made. Lee sells em for 32 bucks.
