Made one myself, took an old jean the lady wanted to trash, cut out some parts, sew them together in a way to have the rifle rest on top, sew in a part for the bottom stand, sew in a zipper and filled with a bag of polystyrene beads. 7€ material. Works great, lightweight, the beads make for a solid rest, looks like that:

You don’t want anything that can get wet and rot in the bags. I don’t recommend lead either. There are enough liberals already. 😛

I used some of my sons airsoft bbs to fill my Caldwell bags. Makes a nice rest. not too heavy to pack along somewhere either.

I’m not a paper puncher also, only when I’m tuning a gun though.

I think of it as, “what a f & waste, I could have killed something with that” and that crony work but it needs to be done.

Those Happy Meal Toys can take it Mike, u got to get some to tryout ………. ……. .. :4:

I got my empty sand bags in, I filled them with the rubber stuff people use for traps. Not to heavy, I have not got a chance to use them yet,
I GUESS I need to post pictures of them when I do use them. Maybe a picture of my old pillow I have used for years sighting in scopes,
I may be getting a new gun in six weeks so that tells you how long you may have to wait, :smilen:
I am just not a paper shooter, Pill bottles, plastic army men (Muslims) Marbles and pecans , And LOTS of sparrows .

No problem, kitty litter works to but it’s heavier good for centerfire.

Greg, thanks for the link! Cheaper than shooting supply prices.

I’ve filled with Walnut hull ground, it’s a bit lighter than sand.

Just ordered me some bags from China, I am going to fill them with rice.
Thanks for the idea.

Hmm, I have Caldwell dead shot bags that I use for BR and to me the price seems OK considering the time and material costs it would take to make similar DIY items.

same here. I like the longer/larger size of the Caldwell dead shot. Mine’s filled w/rice because it sometimes gets shoved into a tree crotch, branch, or set on a stump for hunting; better to have the lighter weight. Large socks, filled w/ rice also works, you just have to keep rice dry. Walnut hulls (ground) are supposed to be choice fill.
