Sand bags WTF
I have never shot off sand bags just my Mono, tri pod and guns bipod , So I started looking around for a rear and front sand bag , WTF….
40 bucks and you got to fill it with sand? I think I am going down to dollar store and buy some 99 cent arm pillows , I guess I can fill them with sand
still 99 cents , Why is the sand bags 40 dollars , Filled with special sand????

I know 40 -60 dollars is not breaking the bank on a sand bag, But the shipping is the killer :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Ive used a variety of all kinds of things EXCEPT the nice commerical sand bag rests.
I can totally appreciate the nice solid construction of the stitched leather and really like the shape of certain saddle type bags and the way they conform to a perfect shape.
I quit filling with sand a long time ago and now exclusively use #6 through #8 lead shot instead.
Things that I have used in the past include old tube socks, tshirts. The long sleave arms from tshirts and the old legs from cut up demin blue jeans . Just cut out a section and sew one end closed fill and sew up the other end.
Currently i am using some canvas bank teller type bags with a zipper. I fill a large ziplock liner inside the bank bag to help secure that the shot remains in the bank bag just incase the corner of the zipper doesnt fully secure. I like shot much better because the density and retains the shape better . With commercial formed pads that might not be a problem.
I just had an idea thou…… How about lead shot filled pair of prosthetic breasts??? Hubba hubba!
OK this is how trailer park my ass is !!! Me and my shooting buddy went to the dollar store and bought like 20 of those big oven mitts and filled them with just regular sand ( couldn’t find magic sand ) and on our bench now we got quick sand bags for the guns we don’t use bipods , or front and rear rests on .
I always saved my bags that shot came in back in the day when they were made of cloth. They make great sand bags for shooting off. I still have a dozen or so.
I noticed that as well, was going to buy some ages ago but still haven’t 😆

The oven mitts are really thick with two layers of canvas and filling ..we folded over the opening and sewed up real tight ..No sand leaks at all . Here in East Texas we have what we call sugar sand ..it’s like Beach sand so it’s not super fine
