SAW’s 1 piece laminate stock ////////COMPLETE////////
got a few spare moments to start my laminate stock for the super talon 😛
I decided to go with a one piece stock with a bottle supporting set-up 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄
I kinda hacked it, just cause I have two more blanks glued up, so this one is kinda an experiment.
I just went ahead and ran a 1/2″ x 3/4″ dado all the way through, next one I will get a bit more precise with it.
Where the bottle rests, the dado will go away as for I plan on doing a radius dado, 🙄 🙄 , the bottle will rest on it.
Trigger guard will be part of the stock, SAW butt, will also be carved into the works.
WOK makes some great parts for these guns and is truly the king when it comes to design and after market goodies, I have them all.
However, I am gonna give the grip a cant forward a few degress/ more straight up and down like.
Prob. an old skateboard injury, IE broken wrists, that made me do a little tweak with the grip angle.
Now the following pics. are just rough cuts, lots of sanding and grinding to follow 😀 😀 😀
I bought one of those Rigid oscillating sanding table thing a ma jigs, that should come in handy.

I tend to shy away from natural wood on the AF and similar rifles but before you spray the bedliner, try some hand rubbed ebony stain. You can always spray over it.
Clear coat it, you can always bedliner it if you don’t like it. Going from bedliner to clear would be a pain in the ass… 😉
I saw the poll and was going to suggest a dark grey stain and you did it already. looks killer dude!!!!
I think it would look good either way. It would be hard for me to cover up that wood but I would probably bed liner it.
I think a clear coat would look good.
Well, I put some ebony Min-wax stain on it today, looked like shit 😥 😥
Needless to say, I took some goof off and wiped it down, and did some sanding.
Doesn’t look half bad, may clear coat it or I will give it the ole bedliner spray
I am a wood guy and was hoping to see some grain and what not, however not too important.
Well here it is, and ohh yeah the hole in the front is for my Cree torch light,
there is also a hole at the bottom to switch her on 😛 😛 😛 😛
I am still pondering on doing a slot cut under where the tank rests
Let me know what you guys think as far as the finish, clear coat or bedliner paint ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓

Got some time today to do some massaging to the laminate stock
I had some walnut laying around and decided to put a nose block.
I am gonna cut it in length and plan on boring a hole in the front
to accomodate this super flashlight I have, the a bore through the bottom so I can turn it on and off.
This thing is pretty light, however I was thinking of doing a slot cut, 3/4″
under the tank for more weight reduction.
The tank rests on a matching radius, should help with things.
Lots of sanding to go, I took these with my phone, the next pics. will be with my super camera.

I used 40grit wrapped around a properly sized dowel or aluminum tube, pvc pipe, cast iron pipe… 😉
Did the same thing when I made a stock for my Mosin Nagant…

Wood doesn’t look its best on an AF rifle, but do the bedliner last.
You might find something that keeps the wood AND looks good…. 😕
