Scope?
Ok I have a BSA 4×32 scope on my talon, and I’m wondering if that’s enough power for my gun? I’m shooting at around 50-60 yds. But should I get a more powerful scope? ❓ Any thoughts on this would be great.

there were no reliable variable power scopes tin the early days .the low power is all they had for the most part. and they were shooting at men
we are shooting at flies and grass blades, and sparrows at 90 yards, or at least i am, 😆

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the early sharpshooters were using 3 or 4 magnifications with very small objective lenses and beaning men on battlefields at long distances. I’m sure the glass in those early scopes was not very good to boot. Our “cheap” scopes would be a wonder to those guys. I agree with you, this scope will work fine for you.
Of course I will, I got the cheap base UTG, I think this scope is going to be all I need in a scope, I have one Condor with a 3×9, and it is great on sparrows to 40 yrds. so I figuire this good for 75 yds. I have some big scopes but the weight is alittle much, so I have been happy with less now.
That scope has picatinny/weaver rings which won’t work with our 3/8″ dovetail. You’ll still have to spend more money on rings. I have a leapers 3-9×40 that came on a gun I bought used. It is a good scope, but it is too little magnification for long range shooting. That being said, my 15 year old son beans targets at 100 yards with it. I have bagged many pigeons at 20 to 60 yards. So the 3-12 may work well for you. If you don’t like it, just pay the shipping back tp PA and they’ll take care of you. Good Luck!

Now you know to mount it you need 3/8 rings or adapter base 3/.8 to weaver, you use high rings, or with base, medium ones, I like that scope so I orderred one just now, keep your fingers crossed.

That wieghs 26 ounces, I would look for something with alittle less heft, I have a couple cheap center-points from Wally mart, they are not too bad I think they are 4×16 x 44. They also have a new one with a 40 mm oobjective I may get ,not sure of the price though, and another place to look for cheap scopes is Optics-Planet on the net.

My buddy encouraged me to try a Tasco Varmint scope…2.5-10x42mm. I have two of these and I really like them. I shoot from 8 yards out to about 60 yards for ground squirrels. They dial down to just 10 feet. That’s very handy when your rats and ground squirrels are in close. The crosshairs are very fine also which helps when shooting GS at further distances.

Have you looked at rings?
BKL are a good choice. I buy the single mounts as there is no recoil with our PCP guns.

3 OR 4 power…low magnification, crumby glass, small diameter lenses…by our standards, they were shitty scopes, but those guys were getting killshots at respectable distances. Sharpshooters, marksmen, whatever their appropriate title was, they made the most of early gun/scope combinations. Again, even our low end wallyworld specials are superior to what they were using.
