Scope height when scope is canted
If you have adjustable mounts or a 20moa mount, how do you measure scope height? The front of the scope is closer to the barrel than the back end

Yes,,,for air rifles you must put GA, not G1,
and i put 10.5 ranging magnification for my Edgun scopes, while my Edgun scope is 10X44 ,
it should have been 10 not 10.5, but i could get closed to the right POI by adding 0.5 to the right RM field,
dose someone know perfectly the ranging magnifications for almost the popular scopes??
I just sold my .177 cricket with scope and all, so now I have 3 things in the mail. Cricket .22, Delta 4.5-30×50, and a eagle vision adjustable scope mount. So I will test the POI when all things get here and see what I can find out
guys i have no doubt … 20moa rail base its causing this π
because i have test it with my friend matador same issue .. other rifles doing good except the ones with 20moa rail so hopefully we know how to measure the height for 20moa π
Whatever the BC or fps the POI should be correct and repeatable. Thats all really matters
Maybe the FPS is different because of where it is measured. The TV function might measure V10 while I measure V0 with my Air Chrony etc
because i have notice with Edgun matador 20moa base rail the velocity doesn’t match with Strelok pro app
i have measure my scope height by making a Cover to the Objective lens with tinfoil and poke a very small hole
also i have put average velocity of my matador which is 915fps .. but when i’m using strelok the POI isnt the same
so i have fix this by the app it self using ( Trajectory validation menu ) gave me higher velocity 962fps but my POI is correct now
i have Taipan and FX rifles i haven’t face anything like this problem …except with Matador because of the 20moa base
If you are certain about fps, then how about changing BC? Strelok have both option ya?
the T.V funcation doing great job giving the correct FPS and BC to all of my rifles π
Edgun 0.031 bc 915fps in chrony but in T.V funcation gave me 962fps higher velocity just because of the 20MOA rail … POI 100% correct
Taipan 0.033 bc 900fps in chrony and in T.V funcation gave me 892fps POI 100% correct
both in 18gr
On almost all scopes, the front of the erector tube (which holds the reticle) inside the scope body is what the turrets adjust. So, if you are going to measure scope height when you’re using adjustable/MOA mounts, you measure from the center of the turrets.
Yes, bc is important. And I belive it is the GA drag function as well, if you change between GA and G1 you will see major difference on poi with same BC number

mughram,
do you think 120 mtr is ok for this purpose??
i also have a problem for my Matadors if i take the POI from the strelok, ,,,but it is a slight differ not huge … wish some one come up with a perfect solution for MOA scope bases
Hemn use this solution it works perfect with Strelok ( Trajectory validation ) … shoot at long range and count how many mildots the POI the app will calculate the correct velocity that will help you in long range shooting with strelok and matador π

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I guess if all else fails I will use the trajectory validation function.
good question … hope some expert talk π

To answer to the original question : Measure the height by the objective.
It doesnΒ΄t matter though if you use a good ballistic app/program since you can feed in any and all parameters, such as cant.
