Q:

scope help?and Question, and answers

I post this on scopes but did not get any input, Or is it just apples and oranges, No one is better just your taste buds?

I have a Hawke sidewinder 4×16-50 pro on my 22 cricket I really like it,
I have been looking at the 6×24-56 Hawke sidewinder for my 25 .
Now I came across the Viper scope, MTC-Optisan-Viper-Rifle-Scope-6-24-x-56-with-Illuminated-MTC-SCB-Reticle.
I really want the better scope, What would you do ????
I am shooting a 8-32×56 accushot on the 25 now, its ok a little on the heavy side,
Just wondering if there was any one that knew a lot about scopes that could help me pick the winner…
Its the reason I am on the list , To learn… I am pretty green ,
Oh and I put the 3×9 Bug on the 25 Marauder, Love the lightness but have to sight it in every time I take it out to shoot it…
Just a little off but it counts in pellet guns, I HATE to miss my shot……
Thanks
Mike

Trenieroutdoors.com a registered dealer at gta forums. Go check it out. Charlie, isn’t Hawke tac 6.5 only go up to 20x magnification? And objective lens is 42mm.

Yes Gus, you are correct… brain fart! Heck, I had to go back to the old thread on the yellow where I bought it to get the model # to check it. It’s a 4026. I’m still going to check it when I get home this evening. I’d have sworn it was a 24X max. the Objective lens is 42 tho for sure. I know it has a 20X mil dot reticle, and the reason I’m cornfuz’d is that I thought I had to dial it back some to get back to the 20X… Will post back this evenin’… :sadn:

Mike,
I have a Hawke 6.5-24X44 Tactical on my .25 long and I really like it. I’m a noob at this too, but I’ve been taking turtle heads off at 100 yards with it. Got my first 5 cat squirrels with it last weekend. Hope to get more this Saturday. The 44mm Objective does limit light gathering especially in low light situations and on high magnification, but the smaller size fits my use better than the 50 or 56 mm versions. Don’t know if you bow hunt or not or get on TexasBowHunter web site, but there’s a guy on there (Screen name Arrowsmith) that is a vortex dealer and he sells them at a discount for TBH folks. Might want to check that out. Link is http://www.texasbowhunter.com. You can create an account on there just like here. Bunch of good folks over there. Be careful with language there however, as it will not allow most 4-letter words that fly around here.

Good Luck,
Charlie

Thanks, this is what I am looking for,
Ginuwine is your viper scope a 6×24 x50 or a 56 ?
My Hawke 4×16 x50 just did not bring the can in focus as good as I wanted at 125 yards,, (cricket 22)
The new scope will go on my Cricket 25 ,
But like I say most of my shooting is off a tripod at 38 yards to 48 yards, Two or three times a year I will be going to my brothers deer cabin and shooting 125 yards and maybe a little more…
Even then most will be off my bipod from a table rest, A few shots will be off hand or a hand held tripod ,(neat walking stick)
Any one know of any good places to order the Viper from , Please post up.. I found a few on Ebay at about 430 shipped .
About another 20 years I will be an expert in this stuff,
Mike

Hey Iride, I have a MTC viper and hawke varmint and must say I love the mtc the best, the scope cam seems to like the Hawke better, but try eyes love the Viper. But that’s just my 2 cents.

No wonder the new shrouds were working so dam good I for got to change the batteries in my hearing aids :smilen: :smilen:
Not much of my shooting will be past 100 yards but 16 power is a little weak at 125 yards, I think the 6×24 would be perfect..
There is only a few oz difference between the 6x24x50 and the 6 x24 56 scopes .
Double check the weights make sure I am not wrong , But the 6x24x56 is 30 oz
and the 6x24x50 is 28 oz , I Think….? 😯

I would like to call and pick your brain , but the wife gets home at 6 pm . And these BB guns are very cheap stuff, :smilen: :smilen: :smilen:
I got the money set aside and its burning a hole in my pocket.
I can not have the white coat guys chasing me around for spending crazy money on BB guns

Mike, I have 2 Viper scopes. The 3X12X44, the 4X16X50 and my buddy has the 6X24X56 all with the SCB reticle. IMHO the 6X24X56 is wayyyyyyyyy to big and heavy. I really like the 3X12X44 because it’s lighter and has plenty of magnification for my needs. If you think you need more magnification go with the 4X16X50. It’ll be MORE than enough. I really love both scopes and I’ve been telling you that but you must have had your hearing aids turned down……………hehehe
