Q:

Semi

I’ve found myself investing a significant amount of time and effort on turning the condor into a semi auto, eat all comers, beast.

So I’m now wondering…

Is it just me?

I’ve got 1:1 a plastic (laser cut acrylic) proto going for the feed mechanism, and a working concept for an e-valve that can handle the rpm.

Costs are redonculous, between valves, machined parts, and ic’s I’m looking at more than 400 bucks in parts alone.

As you all know, I’m a noob in many fields.

I guess my question is : Is there any interest, or is it just me?

If there is, I’d love to show you guys the semi proto, perhaps get some feedback?

( I saw the last guy that showed up with a semi concept…I’d rather not go that route.)

Ok, so I just went through a 3000 psi fill in 4 shots.

The solenoid im using to trigger the big valve has a little button on it, for manual activation. This is what I’m using instead of the e-trigger for the first test.

First shot I did with no pellet in the the gun. It recoiled pretty damned hard, almost coming off the table. As this gun in this config is not exactly light, we know there is power to be had.

Second shot I did with a pellet. No supersonic crack, my TT supressor (held in via a single grub screw) came out about 2 mm. There is obviously plenty of air, I felt a significant amount shoot out of the gaps between the power wheel and the frame.

Ok, so have I learned:

1. The setup is indeed hot swappable, everythings fits.
2. With manual activation, the valve opens slow and opens long.
3. No leaks, things work as they should.

Need to do:
1. Test again with E-trigger, try to find the shortest voltage cycle time needed to open the valve. If I’m going to sling .22 14.3 gr pellets at subsonic speeds, then can this valve get me 50-100 shots, instead of 4?
2. Need ability to gather fps data, how fast are these things going?
3. Get sand bags or equivalent.
4. I need to find the most monster .22 pellets available. Heavy and tight fitting, for the next round of tests.

I’ve googled “Jerry’s Slugs” but couldn’t find anything. Could you guys possibly help me out in finding some serious .22 pellets?

derek,

be fukkin CAREFUL and good luck, let us know how she does.

fyi- if smallbore dont work good on account of a slower than necessary solenoid, try .45 0r .50, more receptive to slow air release…

Now THAT is a modded Condor! Very relieved the test will be w/ a remote.

You can call it ugly, but aesthetics makes more sense to pursue after the mechanics are figured out. Meanwhile, a coat or shirt without big buttons looks indicated (after safety has been established).

Good luck, man! Must be exiting as hell to be at this point. If all goes well, a video clip online is a must! Unreal…

This is my Condor, with the ugly beast screwed in. Ready to take a fill.

Saftey: As I can fire this thing remotely, you can bet your ass I’ll be behind cover for the first tank’s worth of shots.

I’m in VA, so any scorp. shipping will be when it warms up.

Tell you what guys, let’s move the scorp. threads, if any more, to Off Topic and put “Scorpions” in the subject. I’ll check it once in awhile.

FI’s quest deserves our uncluttered attention, as well as donations of Kevlar, shielding, and body armor. I also think we should send him donations of ammo, once all is said and done; kind of a “thank you” for putting so much time and money into R&D. It’s giving new meaning to “get the lead out”!

There is cheap shipping from companys like ship my reptile or something like that.

Just and fyi.
And Ill post a quick pix of the difference between the 2 lol.

bog,

where u at? ive wanted another emperor for a long time…

FI, I think we’re all relieved that your creation isn’t duplicating the impact of space debris…yet.

Good luck with the test! Don’t forget to wear your helmet, goggles, and have a spare set of underwear and pants handy. You’re “Boldly going where no man has gone before”. That frame may need I-beam reinforcement!

Pleeze take your time, double-check and be careful. I’m reminded of almost losing an eye when a Falcon II high power slingshot broke and the top/yoke smashed into my forehead at full draw; there was an invisible air pocket in the casting which created a weak spot. I got a bunch of free stuff from Saunders when I called them up about it.

Good thing it didn’t damage my brain.

Anyway, it’s good to anticipate manuf. screwups. Got any chain mail?!

Regarding the scorps.: they’re about two inches now, but they’re growing. Lately, a pile of crickets headed their way, so they’re fat and shedding. They’re big enough for mature crickets. I love putting the black light on and watching them glow purple and green (the adults). They’ll friggin’ give you nightmares if you look too close at them. Truly miniature monsters. The adults came from a scorpion biologist/expert and, I guess they’re 5 inches or a little better with the tail straight out. They did not originate from the pet trade, as far as I’m aware. But, they’ve been raised in captivity for generations. They might get bigger with higher temps. and more food. 😯

Ya, I need to get the old flat 10 gallon out but I could take 2 off your hands.
Are they nice sized or average pet trade savannah emps?

hahahaha, no, thats not me! Thats a simulation of the damage space debris orbiting earth can cause.

That picture is 18cm thick Al impacted by a 1.2 cm Al ball going 24,500 km/hr.

First firing tests will happen this weekend if all goes well.

That’s an old female Emperor. The sucker was born in July of 2005 and, along with it’s “sister” is still alive! That’s almost 7 years. I do keep them a little cooler than most folks.

I still got some babies to get rid of. It’s not like finding a home for a dog…”Het, ya wanna baby scorpion?” Gets some strange looks at work.

Back to the subject at hand. FI, is that a lead billet, aluminum or something else? W/ the impact skirt, you’d think aluminum would break. Then again, you’re heading towards defying the laws of physics! 😮

Totally off topic, bogman nice emperor scorp or Asian forest?
Both very similar.

Also how do you like your rws 48?
Thanks.

😯 😯 😯

That sucker has so much energy, it breathed life into aluminum…look…it’s smiling!

I hear Joan Jet Music mixed with Black Sabbath playing in the background.

Crap, you’re not building a gun, you’re making a high speed oil drilling rig!

I read this whole thread, great work.

I laughed so hard at that damn explosion, this just sums it up. Jesus Dude!!!
