Sending up a smoke signal for help
OK, just tore my SS down to ground zero, spring – hammer – power dial and all that came out, now how do you get the hammer slide to come out ? Looks like there is a pin or something keeping it from sliding on out through the frame ?

OK, chrony results.
Power wheel stayed set at 8, tank fill to 2900 psi.
Prior to the new hammer last night, I was shooting 21gr Kodiaks through the 12″ barrel an avg of 760-770 fps. The gun had valve work by Jim, trigger and safety smoothed up to perfection and the barrel polished.
Today with the only mod being the new hammer installed, all settings and fills the same, I’m seeing between 815-820 fps. Ran the power wheel up to 10 and only got about 10 more fps out of it, but did not seem group near as well. Dialed back to 8, zero’d in at that and the last 5 shots were dead center and all cut the same hole @ 35 yds.
Pleased as spiked punch at this point….. 8)

You know GTBJ, funny you mention that. I thought maybe it might just be me reacting to the awesomely loud shot that I wasn’t expecting, but that damned thing did have recoil when it fired…..Glad to know now it was not my imagination….. 😆

Well, all I can tell you is where to go and who to contact for one. He’s a member on here, Jim Ayers of http://ayerguns.net/. Goes by J3magnum here on the forum.
A year or so back, I bought a pretty much basket case TSS and then sent it to Jim. He rebuilt it and did some tune mods to it. The old hammer in the original gun was machined out of aluminum and the tolerances were just a tad bit too tight in the frame. It would drag every now and then causing a fowled shot.
After I received the gun back from Jim and began having this problem, he was gracious enough with his customer service to send me out one of his custom built heavier brass hammers. The only scales I have, weigh in grams, and the old aluminum hammer weighed 52.7 grams on it tonight, the new brass one weighed 64.5 grams.
Thats about all I know to tell you, you can contact Jim for more info, he’s a super A+ guy to deal with.

Got R Done …….. and OH what difference a cleaning and heavier hammer makes. Got just about dark and the chrony did not have enough light, but I can tell ya, this thing is smoking now. Can’t wait till tomorrow to run some througn the chrony to see what kind of difference that made.
Does help though to make sure all your grub screws are put back though…..:lol: 😆 First shot with it put back together was just awesomely loud. Got to looking and I had forgotten to put the grub screw back in the endcap. Blew my endcap and 6 inches of aluminum baffling about 40 yds out in front of me, surprisingly though, the pellet impacted exactly where I was aiming. Gathered up parts, put it all back in WITH the grub screw this time and rock & roll……

LOL….. Maybe I need a little of that brandy to finish up here. I just cleaned the hammer up good and got to thinking, now I don’t remember which end faces the tophat. One end of the hammer has a flat, smooth end of delrin, the other end has a sort of tapered end on the delrin on the hammer. I’m thinking the tapered end faces nearest the tophat, would that be correct ?
Yeah, a good polish inside makes a world of difference.
Just spray a bit of silicone on the hammer, wipe it down and let it dry, then put it back. When you put it back in the frame, it should glide effortlessly back down
OK, thanks again. Have been having some soft shots and it’s dirtier than cheap whore in there, so going to clean ‘er up good and try putting it back here in a bit…… Stay tuned if something goes South on me… LOL

One of my other posts on pg 1 has the weights, the old aluminum one that somebody made that came with the gun weighed 52.7 grams, the new brass one I put in weighes 64.5 and it’s shooting great.
On another note that I’ve noticed, the aluminum hammer was solid aluminum, this brass one has delrin bushings on each end. It is much quieter now than before, I suppose because the delrin is gliding down the breech instead of just dragging down the breech like the aluminum one was.
