Q:

ShoeBox Exclusively for Filling Air Rifles Quickly??

All,

Is anyone interested in a ShoeBox Compressor that would be made to only fill small air rifle tanks from 0-3000 psi 7-8 minutes? I am thinking about doubling the RPM’s on a 3000 psi rated ShoeBox. This would put out twice as much air but only to 3k. Since the run time is only a few minutes and the pressure lower, it wouldn’t have time to overheat.

3k psi and short duration is much easier for the compressor to live with but that would limit you to guns only. Anyone game? Curious to hear your thoughts.

But how small are we talking? Marauder is 215cc.. but what if you have a Condor tank too? It is much larger? Someone could chime in the correct number.. would not want the compressor to overheat while filling a condor tank vs filling a maruader tank.

I don’t own one – so this may be a dumb question – is it easy to cut off the gun fill at 2700psi? is there a gauge that displays the current pressure between the tank and the compressor?

I love the idea of hooking my little nail compressor to a shoebox for all my air needs. If my SCUBA ever needs replacement I will definitely look at a ShoeBox compressor.

If your just changing the gearing for more RPM’s would you be able to switch it over later to fill tanks? Shouldn’t be real hard to do.

I am in Tom. Sounds like a perfect idea! I don’t have a large air tank or anything to fill so this would be perfect..

I’m ordering one to primarily fill a CF tank…. So for me, personally, I wouldnt be interested in one…

Tom,
I have Shoebox #64 and I can top off my tank in 5 minutes. I filled from dead empty one time and that was it. If I remember correctly it took 45 minutes and now I go from 2000 to 3000 psi in 5.

I think this would lead to abuse of the machine because if you want to go out shooting, you will have a scuba or scba tank to take with you. People will start trying to top off their “to go” tank with this unit or they will get it thinking it’s twice as fast and it should hold up no matter what they do with it.

As a general rule, you only fill from empty one time, the rest is topping off and that only takes 5 minutes as it is.

If it would hold up to the possible abuse, it would sell.

Tom,

Spendid idea for those who shoot primarily on their own property.

It would cut the price of converting from tanks or pumps in half if that were all they had to buy.

However, for me I would still go with the tanks, for I do not always shoot here, or do not wish to walk up to the house when I am in the middle of control work and can refill with a small buddy bottle.

Yep, Sounds perfect for me.
