Shoebox price increase?
I thought it used to be $1099. Now it’s being listed at $1199.

That’s very old information and we found out the units are imported and then are being upgraded more significantly than we first thought. I would stick with ones where they are upgrading the components like the Raptors/Omegas and support them. There has been some delay on this coming shipment because of the upgrading and testing that is occurring and as far as I know the entire batch is already reserved (about 50). I would be wary of anyone selling the units directly imported from China. I am sure they will take orders on the next batch.
I tried to do a bit of searching on line when AOA first announced these thinking that there would be someone else offering these at a lower cost since the Chinese have no loyalties to a single distributor. No luck yet but would love to know about this other importer.
U won’t find another importer for the raptor… Raptor pneumatics is the sole importer for that unit. they have contracts with the manufacture. and AOA is there distributor.
the one he was talking bout was prior to the raptor coming out. he only had a few left when the raptor was released but because of contracts and such he is no longer able to get them.
the raptor was based of of them but they had a bunch of stuff changed and upgraded. and tailored it more to air gunners…. plus they will be offering parts/service in the US

Well it turns out you can get the Raptors (without the labeling) for $1000 plus shipping from another importer. I have a Shoebox original but me thinks Tom is in big trouble. Anyone can do a bulk order of 20 units from the factory direct. No AOA monopoly this time.

As of today, they dropped the price of Freedom 8 down to $1149. Still not happy that they raise the price in the first place. Anybody remember what price they were originally, originally at?
Now to work on the Shoebox MAX. I recently found out that they used to cost $430 in 2012. Now they cost $649? That’s a whopping 51% increase. What gives bro?
Let’s keep up the pressure guys. I know they are reading this forum. Let them know we will not tolerate anymore price increases. Actually we demand it go on sale NOW!
my Shoebox is several years old one of the originals I just recently had one of the compression fittings go bad and was sent a new one free to replace the broken part. It was acctualy one of the u shaped tubes and the fitting.
So I duno about the 90 day warentee so far I have only seen positive stuff about tom and his product.
+1 Mr. N.! My shoebox isn’t going anywhere! but Dumb shit’s statement that the newly offered Chinese unit is “A new and vastly superior”, Is typical of his statements here on the forums. It may very well be. But a statement such as this against a proven system is way over the top until, and I mean a BIG UNTIL—- The Chinese unit has been in the field and really wrung out by the end users and proven it’s self can such a concrete statement hold any water what so ever.
As it stands at this point, it is nothing more than another uneducated rant by one who has proven himself wrong over and over again. And is too dammed arrogant+stupid to know it! 🙄
All advertisers would love for the public to believe everything claimed for a new product. Those of us that have been around a while know to look upon such claims with a guarded eye.

I can see the new guys point.. The price of the shoebox has went up considerably in the past few years.
Yes, there are upgrades…drive belts, switches, fans, hardened push rods, pumps air a little faster…ect,ect
But up over a grand now ? FUCK THAT..quit upgrading the damn thing..in fact downgrade it..keep its price reasonable.
I have an original shoebox..no belts, fans..hardened push rods ect, ect.
I have had to replace orings a couple of times.
I love my shoebox..I don’t need or want any of the fancy crap.

I LOVE my shoebox.
I don’t have any place around here close to get air so that was my only option. Mine is the regular shoebox with belt and harden pistons but not the freedom 8 model.
Parts are cheap to replace plus it is made here in the USA. That means alot to me. I’d rather support Tom then some big company that don’t give a shit about you once you make a purchase. Tom stands by his product. Sure he had a few small problems at first but who don’t when they first come out with something and he stood by it from the beginning and made it right. So I guess if you want to support a foreign country instead of your own then so be it.
I have the Shoebox Freedom 8. I went the big compressor route at one point when I picked up a used Coltri gas powered compressor off of Craigslist. Didn’t take long to figure out that anything to do with a repair of HP compressors is expensive and time consuming to get parts. Sold it off before I went broke trying to make it work.
With the shoebox, you can get parts and repair expertise easily from Tom. I did a o-ring repair to my first original unit and it was a no brainer. Sure I’d like a HP side drain and dryer, but I’m happy enough with it’s performance to live without that or will plunk down the $400 that it cost to get one from Joe. The fill time to top off my two tanks, a Guppy and 88, is just fine with me.
