Q:

Shooting Chrony: BEWARE FALSE WARRANTY

Has anyone gotten the run-around with their 3 year warranty?

I shot the rear sensor and cracked its housing the very first day! Damn. Lo and behold if it didn’t affect its performance. That was a relief. About 1 1/2 years later the Liquid crystal display stopped forming the last two digits fully. It was over a year so I figured that it was out of warranty and lived with the faulty display. When I bought my .25 Marauder, I was re-reading the manual and was pleasantly surprised that the warranty was 3 years. So, I sent back to them. They failed to contact me…I had to track them down. They didn’t answer their phone all day yeaterday, 8/3/2010.

I spoke with someone today who is telling me that the cracked sensor is why the display isn’t working properly. WTF??? They are giving me the “inurance company we-don’t-want-to-honor-our-end-of-the-deal” dance. They want $30 for the display, $10 for a new rear sensor that it doesn’t need, and $9 to ship it back to me.

What are you experiences with Shooting Chrony? Post them here, maybe we can help our friends to not get burned by SC.

Which chronographs and their companies have worked out well?

That’s what I’m talkin’ about! Voting with my wallet and posting my crunby experiences everywhere I can. I got an e-mail from the bitch…she said that I was trying to get a new Beta model for free! WTF? I just wanted my unit repaired, that’s all! Oh well.

About 10 years ago I hit my chrony squarely w/ a.223. Had just taken first shot after mounting ascope relatively high above the bore. Now I take that difference into acoount! Chrony replaced the whole unit, no charge, even upgraded it to better model. Maybe now they have new management and have gotten chickenshit. I’m now using a P.A.C.T. chronograph so haven’t dealt with chrony in a while.

Thanks Beeneeboy for the suggestion. mamcrackin has had one and he wasn’t too pleased with it. It had issues.

If your only using it for moderated air rifles then a combro is a good option.

Really WOK, who makes that one? Where do I sign up? 😉

😆 😆 😆 That broad sure found my billy goat! Thanks for the humor WOK…I need it… 😆

I am going to buy another chronograph from a company who values me as a customer. Any suggeations? I.

I suggest a F1 Chrony. I hear they have great customer service. 😛

They are holding it hostage for $10. I’m not paying $10 to have a malfunctioning unit returned that should have been repaired. I’m not paying $50 to have an $80 unit repaired. I can buy a new F1 for $67! Furthermore, they have pissed me off! I tried calling back to negotiate with a supervisor. I got that BITCH who can go straight to hell.

I’m spoiled. Companies like Dillon Precision, Remington Arms, Ruger, Springfield Armory, hell even Walmart values me as a customer. Companies that back their products are actually backing their customers. They are insuring that we will, by word of mouth, keep them alive and prosperous for years to come. I have personally sold 4 Dillon presses to my friends, ten or more M-1A’s, Ruger MII…more than I can remember. That’s because their products are well made and if there is an issue, they handle it…with no BS!

I guess that I have just had it with companies who have “downsized” and cut benefits while expecting more from their employees to keep that bottom line fat. I’ve had it with government picking our pockets for our own good. Whether it is a company or the gov’t, they all lie to get us to buy their product, (airgun advertised velocities), or to get us to elect them. Then they screw us. This is garbage!

I am going to buy another chronograph from a company who values me as a customer. Any suggeations? I am going to post everywhere I can about my lousy experience with Shooting Chrony at my liesure, over the next few months. How many people were seriously considering a Rapid until Cygnus X posted his problems with his? Many Rapids were not sold as a result of his bad experience. I took a chance with my .25 Marauder, (the devil I don’t know), and that worked out great! I have made many positive posts and I am sure that people have purchased them as a result. We do have some power. Let’s use it to help each other.

You know… your geek friend can probably get a new LCD unit either from Radio Shack or by doing an online search for the part# on the LCD unit itself. I doubt it is a custom piece, probably a fairly common piece.

Since you aren’t likely to get your warranty due to their determination that it was caused by user abuse… (right or not)

New LCD unit is $30.00.. cheaper than a new unit at least.

This is great, this bitch at Shooting Chrony is accusing me of threatening her. 😆 I never threatened her, I told her to FUCK OFF!

I thought that was the end of it, but now I am getting crazy harassing e-mails from some crazy stalker-like female manager.

Like I said, buy other equipment. Stay clear of Shooting Chrony!

Well Steve… They sure should not be afraid, They have seen your shooting work (shot placement)…. 😛 😛 😛 😛

Post the E-mails and give us a laugh.

I don’t care what you guys say, my experience has been terrible! They are FUCKING ASSHOLES!!!

IF YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THEM YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

LURKER, you’re hired!!! 😀 That’s why we use lawyers; it’s difficult to be diplomatic when you think that someone is stealing from us, (to entice someone to buy their product with a great sounding warranty and then not honor it is fraud). I am going to call back and ask for the owner, CEO, senior supervisor. We’ll see. It’s not even fully crackrd…it’s just chipped at the top where the window is. I will post the resolution so others can see what happens before they buy one of these. I am open to any and all diplomatic suggestions.

Again, if I had shot the display like Paul did, I would just pay them.

I suppose shooting the rear sensor case could cause a break or partial short in the wireing but it would be hard to believe it could affect just a few of the display segments at the other end of the cable.

It took over a year to die so it wasn’t a clean kill.

Whether or not they should have charged for the new display is a tough call. At least we know they didn’t charge the cost of a whole new unit.

Diplomacy is the key to an acceptable solution.
