Shooting Chrony: BEWARE FALSE WARRANTY

Has anyone gotten the run-around with their 3 year warranty?

I shot the rear sensor and cracked its housing the very first day! Damn. Lo and behold if it didn’t affect its performance. That was a relief. About 1 1/2 years later the Liquid crystal display stopped forming the last two digits fully. It was over a year so I figured that it was out of warranty and lived with the faulty display. When I bought my .25 Marauder, I was re-reading the manual and was pleasantly surprised that the warranty was 3 years. So, I sent back to them. They failed to contact me…I had to track them down. They didn’t answer their phone all day yeaterday, 8/3/2010.

I spoke with someone today who is telling me that the cracked sensor is why the display isn’t working properly. WTF??? They are giving me the “inurance company we-don’t-want-to-honor-our-end-of-the-deal” dance. They want $30 for the display, $10 for a new rear sensor that it doesn’t need, and $9 to ship it back to me.

What are you experiences with Shooting Chrony? Post them here, maybe we can help our friends to not get burned by SC.

Which chronographs and their companies have worked out well?

I have had great luck with them. I can understand their position because I bet everyday people are trying to scam free parts/service.

Maybe there is someone else at the company you can discuss this with and explain the problem and get it covered.

Thanks for the support, guy!

DON’T BUY A SHOOTING CHRONY

Bullshit! I cracked a sensor housing has nothing to do with the display. The sensor still works just fine. I asked my electronics-geek buddy about this; he had an interesting answer. His opinion is that when a display fails to complete the digits completely, the ribbon cable is not properly secured in the display unit.

Paul Capello squarely shot his display…you see it in his videos. I didn’t do that. Their display died a natural death within the warranty period and they are screwing to get out of honoring their warranty. That’s chickenshit!

BEWARE OF SHOOTING CHRONY

i shot mine and busted the lense on the back senson i called them up and talked to a lady there and told her my problem and that i shot it hell she sent me 2 new lenses for the front and the back and a new black housing it cost me NOTHING so i cant complain with them

and its fixed@! 😉

I clipped the rear sensor…cracked the housing. The display worked fine after that. Much later the display began to malfunction.

The part that failed is not part of the area you shot?

Would Chevrolet honor a warranty after the owner rear ended someone…

Probably not… 😕

The possibility exists that the accident caused the damage and thus relieving them from any burden of providing warranty service…

Warranty usually cover something they did or failed to do.

So unless they shot your Chrony they probably do not think they should pay for it 😀
