Side lever .25 cal build
I have noticed how much you guys are into the DIY builds so thought I would show you my current project. Its a probe less design with the barrel and the bolt beign off center to allow the O-ring to be at 5 degree’s angle. This one is made of 7075 alum and 304 stainless but I have a piece of 6AL4V Titanium from the last project of the Ti Rapids.
This one feels really good to cock. Side levers are so smooth, I just love them. It is being built up for Benchrest shooting and have no plans of making it multishot. I think with the airpassage going through the bolt I can eliminate the probe and any flow problems or pellet damage. I will put a Picitinny rail on it and use a big Nikko Diamond 10-50 power scope.

Haas is an awesome machine we had one where I used to work takes a bit of programing but once you get it where you want and jigs and things set up you are good to go next time around! Do you do job shop projects and do like several hundered parts, there is where the money is at, the guy I worked with has a son in law in Florida he gets all the work the big guys don’t want like 500 of these and 800 of this, so he does really well. has some bigger counts but it has paid for his Haas and he does really well 😯

I am so impressed that you can do this from scratch.
I have a Prototype shop and do medical and military development. Like medical instuments or thermal camera’s. I have Haas machine centers and cnc lathes. I could not ask for a better job, I was born to machine metal. As for a mill to watch out for on craigslist I recomend a Clausing 8520. They are small enough for a home shop and not made in China. I have seen them for around $1000 locally. Normally its something that someones Grandpa would have and now he’s gone and the family sells it.
I would love to still be manually machining, I think the best start out on manual machines. But I can’t make a living without the cnc’s.
Chip that is some fine work there, and I to thank you for showing us your work, and please keep us posted I love seeing work others do, and your machining is top notch! what are you using to create your work as far as a mill? been looking for one but so far haven’t found one close enough to home, and shipping kills some deals 😯

Did a little test fire today. Shot 25.4 gr JSB at 1050fps (62fpe) with a 19 inch barrell and didnt even try for that kind of power. I think the flow is really working good on this set up. From other things I have built I was thinking it would have been more like 900fps since I used the same internals as before.
