Q:

Simmons scope for Cricket ??

What about the Simmons .44 Mag 6-24×44 scope ? I´m in a search for a lightweight scope with at least 20x optics but don´t know anything about the Simmons. Not familiar with the brand at all. I have a Hawke Varmint 6-24×44 which doesn´t really cut it, opticswise , and i have an MTC Viper 10×44 on my EdGun and while a good scope the 10x is too little for anything beyond 50 meters. So a new acceptable quality scope is needed for the becoming Cricket .25 and the Simmons look like a good candidate due its very light weight . On paper at least . Can also be just waste of money, like the Hawke … I don´t need no S&B, Swarovski nor March for my air-rifles though since IMO that´s overdoing it.
Anyone with first hand experience/knowledge about Simmons ??

Well some of the best bargains I have found have been on EBay but you have to check the Leupold web site to make sure your not buying a fake. 😯

It seems one can´t go wrong with a Leupold. Maybe i should just give up and give in for one. A friend of mine is on the market for a new scope as well so we may order two and share the freight. Who sells Leupolds at reasonable prices over there ??

I have two Elites on PBs. I will never buy another because of a terrible experience with Bushnell’s customer service. It took six months to get one replaced under warranty and they used every excuse in the book not to replace it but did under threat in the end. The opposite of Hawke or Leupold customer service here in the US which is excellent. One problem with that scope is the limited elevation adjustments.

O.K. Enough about the low-end scopes then. Let´s go to the middle class : What about a Bushnell Elite 6-24×40 ?? I know, i know – i should choose the Tactical version but it´s much, much heavier … 😎

Hmmm…

I have several scopes lying around, but not here where I am right now:

I’ll have to get back to Oslo first……..

But quite honestly, I don’t understand why you need a mildot reticle if your’e shooting out to 50 mts. According to chairgun you’ll get a kill-zone of 1/2 inch from roughly 15 yds out to 42 yds if zeroed at 35 yds and shooting 18.1 jsbs at 885 fps. Should be good enough for most of the game your’e not allowed to hunt……. 😉 And holdover out to some 70 yds is very easy as well…………

In my experience a quick aim and shoot is more effective than adjusting turrets while your’e target is disappearing into the bush……….

The Leupy is superb for that purpose…… :8:

Paperclipping is another issue all together as is serious FT, – but you don’t do that much, do you ????

Cheers

I don´t do anything serious !

That said i´d like to see what i´m shooting without having the reticle/cross totally cover small targets and i want a scope that can be used for paper clipping at distance, should i feel the urge. I don´t do turret adjustments at different ranges-thus i prefer a 1/2 MD reticle (an MD will do).
If you have a good scope for the purpose and don´t need it, i´m interrested. Check your cabinet once you get back to Oslo!

Nice photo but the cut grass strips detracts from the natural beauty of the shot. I would use a weed whacker for photo ops. Sure – it would take a few extra hours but aren’t we worth it? 🙂

Thanks Loco! That one looks really nice and it´s a real lightweighter to boot. I only have one cripe : I´d like to have a mil-dot reticle,at least, or better yet-a 1/2 MD. The MTC i have on the EdGun has a 10x mag and it´s enough for upto 50m so i quess the Leupold 9x will be enough taken it has (most probably) better optics.

I´ve been thinking about March as well but for my rimfires. I could take the current RF scope and bolt it onto the Cricket when that damned piece arrives …

I´ll give the Leupold a closer look. BTW – you don´t happen to have a good scope lying around collecting dust ?? I´d be interrested ..

Buy a Leupold 3-9×33 EFR with the fine duplex reticle……….. 😀

http://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/rimfireultralight-riflescopes/vx-2-3-9x33mm-ultralight-efr-includes-rimfire-efr/

Light, exceptional depth of field and superb for the distance you mention…………… :8:

It doesn’t get much better for the size……..

Or buy a March………. 😉

25 yrds … hmmm… You´re right about the SF and the 1/2 mil-dot reticle,or equivalent. Damn it – i need a lightweight scope (max 500 grams) and with a good reticle, SF and plx down to 10 meters or so. What´s a poor boy to do now ??

AO adjustment is down only to 25 yards. I consider side focus highly desirable on an air rifle but kicks the price to $650. Reticle needs 1/2 MD markings in my opinion.

I found mixed reviews. Here is one thread from the Yellow.

O.K – now let´s get back to the OT. Anyone with experience on Clearidge scopes ???

I shot competitive bench rest for nearly fifteen years (80s and 90s) and its led me to be the vermin mister I am today. 😆 I can’t even sit and poke paper for an hour any longer – it’s just too boring. I don’t know what I would do if they banned air gun hunting and pesting.

The Yellow stinks…

TGFV – Thank God for vermin

As I said, I don’t shoot bench rest. I shoot game and vermin. But also like I wrote, Yarrh does indeed shoot bench rest, and a LOT of 10 shot groups. With excellent results. Once again, you can search it on the yellow. The yellow has a link at the top of the TAG forum.

That is if that fuck’n yellow will let you in. A real bunch of pansy pricks running the place.
