Q:

Some Cricket .25 Questions

Hi guys, first post here…so I have been really wanting a bullpup for a couple years now (after watching Ted’s early Edgun vids) and with this new availability of Crickets I feel like now is a good time to pick one up. Hopefully I will have all my cash together in a month or two of some overtime at work to be able to pick up a synthetic stocked .25 from WWAG :D. Anyway I have a few questions that I have not been able to get a clear answer to by simply searching:

1. Is the current production of .25 barrels in Crickets LW or CZ? It doesn’t really matter I know but I am just curious as I have heard people say both….

2. How is the accuracy at longer ranges with the .25? I know, I know, accuracy really isnt a question with these guns but I just haven’t seen many pics of targets past 50 yards shot with a .25, obviously I would hope with such a efficient reg and good quality barrel sub 1″ groups at 100 yards from a bench-rest scenario would be possible, am I wrong/right?

3. Can the shroud be disassembled for cleaning? I understand it can be screwed off but can the actual components of the shroud be removed and cleaned?

4. I know predators cannot fit into the mag but can they be single loaded into the breech? Or is the breech width just too short to accommodate them?

5. Does anyone run a sling with the crickets? Is it even possible to use one with the bullpup config?

That’s it guys, I really appreciate the help. And btw I have lurked here for about a year now and can honestly say this is by far the best airgun forum to come read, I am a member of some of the other “major” ag forums but what I enjoy about this place is that there isn’t a bunch of censorship B.S. and forum wide bias towards a certain gun/brand, folks here seem to just speak there minds and I respect that so my hat’s off to y’all.
Cheers
Caleb

Thanks fellas, that clears it up for me…. cheers

Crickets website says this for the .25 cal in the description “LW 600 mm long choked 12 grooved barrel, 450 mm twist;” on their website here.

To answer one of your original questions : The .25 barrel is an LW. Period. The accuracy is superb and the shroud can´t be taken apart for cleaning. It´s not needed though.
The .25 airtube volume is 328 cm3.

One more question guys: what is the cylinder size for the .25 long (in cc’s)???

Ernest, thanks for your reply. The reasons you give for the synthetic stock is why I want it over the walnut (except for the weight).

Do you work for TAG or Wild West?

Thanks for your detailed reply Ernest, I really appreciate it, I may have to contact you about your single shot trays down the road as well.

P.S. Correct me if I’m wrong but your .25 is “standard” correct? Meaning that it has a slightly shorter airtube than a normal “long” .25? All the pictures I’ve seen of .25 crickets have had longer airtubes than yours and consequently I’ve seen larger shot counts at the same energy.

Yes my .25 standard use the standard air tube, also I shorten the barrel to 19″ from 23″ to make it more compact. took a lot of adjustment and tuning to get that shot count. when I want more shot count I just swap the long air tube in 5 min, then the air tube and barrel are almost the same length.

here is a photo of a .25 using the standard air tube, with the long forearm stock, with a 19″ barrel—look at the standard shroud its not flush with the scope rail sense the barrel is longer then standard length of 17 3/4″. this setup is 29″ OAL.

Very cool, funny enough your system of switching out airtubes reminds me alot of Ted’s envisioned plans for the bobcat: the ultimate modular BP….

Ernest, What are your mod recommendations? What is the cost of your single shot tray?

Thanks
Dave

Again when I’m busy I cant make the tray, only if I have your BP in hand for a tune or reseal so I can fit the SS mag perfectly rotating or stationary style. $35

Ernest Please tell me about your cheekpiece.

Thanks
Dave

Its a project that I didn’t finish, I was going to make the 2nd piece that cover the barrel, but got to busy, someday I’ll finish it. made of laminated wood, so far it has been stable for over 6 month no sigh of warping.

Really… I’m surprised usually it’s the other way around.

Its not like the FX they are lighter then wood, hallow in some area and had some crack on the pistol grip and they flex allot) cheap compare to the cricket.

The cricket is made from dense tough solid rubber, one time I test the surface–I ran my sharp finger nail across the surface really hard—-wipe my nail residue and wala no mark, try that on wood!

Its almost twice as heavy as the Skelton stock. but dose make a steadier platform quicker to steady your amen, also its that type of stock not to worry about banging it around like wood no matter how hard it is.

all my cricket wood have some kind of pressure / scratches——> none on the synthetics.

the wood is slippery due to the shinny surface, your like Spiderman when you grab the synthetics.

My .25 walnut long is lighter than tne 22 standerd sythetic by quite a bit too and lot bigger the walnut is lot lighter than synthetics

Yep, that’s what I understand. Can’t really figure how synthetic could be heavier than wood though, no matter, I will probably pick up a skeleton stock down the road as well.

‘Tis true. You can ask Steve at WWAG. I picked up a walnut skeleton stock and love it. Lightweight and crazy accurate.
