Q:

Spare tank options.

Hello all,

Thinking about getting a new tank for my condor for plinking when I am working on my high flow valve.
Mostly in the winter when raccoons are in hiding. I dont really need all that punch to take out smaller pests.
Thinking about a standard flow tank, just have to take out the hammer weight right?
How about micro meter tank or running on co2- dont have an adapter.
What would be the most accurate, consistent FPS, and what FPE could be expected from each?
.22 condor, 24″ barrel.

Thanks 🙂

The Micro Meter valves are as Moneyshot said… There is alot more involved in them more so than any of the other valves AF does… That spring retainer is just a metering orfice to actaully meter the flow from the tank while the valve is open…

While they will get way more shots per/fill, I still think one of the biggest things that waste more air than anything, is the bounce of the hammer assembly on the valve per cycle of the trigger…

That same bounce that waste certain amounts of air each shot is also affecting the accuracy as well… That and the trigger… I have worked on my Condor extensively, the trigger is no exception, while focused on the trigger with a discipline of doing just the trigger and for accuracy only, I saw and could tell the hammer bounce was part of the accuracy issues I was having…

Many ways to get the bounce reduced, but none that I have seen to remove it… To address the wasting of air per/shot is a honorable issue to be sure… Controlling the air flow and the hammer bounce would lead you to many more shots per/fill…

The new style MicroMeter is alot more different and involved than the first version I saw…

i think the micro meter tank is just a talon tank with a valve return nut with a very small hole in it to restrict air

well, not exactly.

its got a smaller stem od to match the low flow, a brass sleeve around the spring, and yes, a retainer with a tiny barely there pinhole. also a longer, narrow spring. interesting little piece, im gonna do something cool with it… 😉

I darn sure did LOL… Well a few hours ago I did… Just checking the posts here and saw this…

I would say if your going to get the spare tank and carry one for that purpose, be sure and get you the protective cap to screw on the top, it will help keep the tophat all in check and ass it should be…

I don’t need or use a spare tank with mine any longer as I have a much larger tank on the rifle with the quick fill… But when I bought the two extra tanks I have now, that was what I did, the protective caps are a must have JIMO…

Rowdy just put up a tank of your choice for 130 in the for sale section.

Hotrod if it were me i would get another condor high flow tank, and put a oring behind the top hat, leave the extra condor weight in so you don’t have to pull the gun apart to change it ,that way you can use the extra tank for everything ,turn it down or go full blast, i have used my condor turned down for 175 shots at 500 fps to 600,

i think the micro meter tank is just a talon tank with a valve return nut with a very small hole in it to restrict air

i have wanted to get another tank for a long while so i could have two set ups ready to go, just have to put a piece of tape on each of the tanks with the power wheel setting for each tank,

its easy enough to set the top hat higher then lower, but allot easier to pull the tank put the other one on and turn the power wheel 😀

Not much seriously, I bet not more then 30fps.

Thats about right, I went from 680 to 735fps when I put in a 95gram hammer w/ a std valve. not the eye-popping 900 I was looking for 😆 needed a worked over Hi/Flo valve to get up there with a 12 inch .25 barrel. I suppose it would be a little hotter with a longer barrel.

Yes I think I will go with the standard flow tank because the micro meter tank sounds a little weak. Temp changes too much for co2.
I wonder what the standard flow tank would do with the hammer weight in the gun?

Thanks guys :thumb:

harry,

ill take the one with the wg15 so it dont feel unappreciated… 😆

the micro tank is maybe a hair more ballsy than co2.

i got one out of tank if you wanna work sumthin out… 😉

I like them both, but after having one and modifying it, I knew what I wanted on my next one 😀 as for the Wokguard… great piece of hardware. I love the Pearce Ar to .45 grip adapter. Not a big fan of the feel of an AR grip. My hands are just to fat and the .45 grip fits like a glove

I have a 12 in Talonss and I’m shooting 15.2 pellets at 800 to 900, it works very well lots of shots like 40, I think I would go with talon tank and just take the extra weight out and keep the powerwheel low. A Micro tank will shoot same pellet around 600.

Awesome rifle Harry !

Which one do you like better? Personally I like the one with the Maddog stock.

Awesome rifle Harry !

Harry that SS in a .25 sounds sweet, and packs a punch.
What pellets are you using for those numbers.
Lets see a pic.

I use JSB 18.1gr Jumbos in .22 and JSB 25.4gr Kings in .25

This is my TSS with Maddog Stock and Hi Flo valve, Peaks @ 920 fps

This is my First TSS that has the Std. Valve

if climate is regularly upward of 60f or so where you are, co2 is the way to go. hundreds of shots at a self regulated pressure at a given temp. if hpa is the only option cause of the cold, a detuned standard flo or micro meter is the way to go…

Money,
How powerfull is a regular micro meter set up vs
a regular talon standard flow set up.
