Spool Valve?
Has anyone tried or created a successful balanced spool air valve at normal PCP air rifle pressures? If its possible wouldnt it allow much lighter springs and hammers to operate?

I just have ideas of how to make a valve where the seal will not have 3000 psi pushing on it. Not sure it will work. Have to many projects going on to start another. Need to finish up .308 and then move on to the .451.
Yeah your probably right Jerry. Hard to beat the KISS method. I know there are some micro high pressure soleniod valves out there but they run about 800.00 each! Anyone know how Daystate’s electronic valve works?
I read about an attempt at a spool valve a few years back. The jist of what I remember was the complication wasn’t worth it and operation was hard to get consistent. Some internet searching might find that info.
I dont have a drawing or a concrete idea yet. I know they use spool valves in paintball guns and they are quieter than poppet valves but operate on much less pressure. Do you have a drawing or idea that could be built and tested? My concern is the o-ring wear and longevity. Is a poppet really the state of the art for over 200 years?
Post a drawing or pic of what your talking about. I have been tinkering with the idea of maybe something simular. Only problem is pressure closes the valve. My .308 valve has a 50lb return spring to help stop tank dump. Almost seems like if you make the valves to free flowing they don’t want to close.
