Well Shit! I was ready to go off on the mods here about how they always stand up for Steve and all of the Hitler Youth on the Yellow.

We have all bought airgun parts/accessories that, for some reason, wouldn’t work. SOP was to call the seller up and ask what the next step was.
Lets face it, there are a lot of incompetent people out there…… Once the seller determines that I know which end of the screwdriver to hold, I would, usually, get a quick rundown of things to try. If none of the suggestions helped, I have always been told to send the part back.
It sucks to have to send it back! I have to wait for the replacement part or my money back. If I didn’t want the damned thing, I wouldn’t have ordeered it.
A regulator that you can’t adjust? To quote Monte Pyton, “I fart in your general direction”!
Never bought any thing from Steve in NC. Won’t be buying anything from him in the future.

I have never purchased any of Steves products, but like his benefactor of the same name, he is a prick in my book.
I see now he and his ‘reacharound’ yellow buddies are pounding Darren for shooting quail on his property here in Oregon with a airgun and out of season.
The quail in question were from what I read, purchased as domestic quail by the prior owner of his land, as such they are private property/poultry, much like chickens, he can thus legally stomp them to death on easter morning if he wishes.

my understanding is that while Steve is the designer he actually doesn’t build a thing…all of his products are subcontracted then offered through third parties
would not be surprised at all if he never even touches his regs, just has them manufactured to his design specs and drop shipped to AoA
that was the case with his 22XX 2 stage trigger & disposable HDD, {out of 5 purchased I have had 3 failures}…also had one 2 stage sear break in half at one of the screw holes
my opinion of his product line is that while they are very well thought out in design the execution can be somewhat lacking at times
synthetic is just a poor material choice for his HDD…guess it’s engineered obsolescence at it’s finest, the fate of many American produced products these days 🙄
so his regulators are actually sealed, non user serviceable units?

I just read an old post on the Yeller. Steve (the “regulator” maker) was saying how true innovators patent their stuff while other were arguing that while a patent protects, a deep wallet is needed to enforce it. The best way is to build a great product and offer outstanding service.
Tim (Mac 1) and Steve Cochran had mentioned this in reference to a few items they both produce…
Funny the same guy who claimed innovators patent is now saying people took his non patented stuff and offers shit for service on the product he produces…

Mac 1 is making full fledge rifles, which I believe won the Worlds a few years ago (not to mention the assortment of other highly respected items), Cochran makes some of the most amazing stocks on the planet and jerk wad makes a plastic part and a cheap ass regulator paperweight… 😆

Rev, I know a copyright is considered non-applicable once the design (or song or…) has been changed by 15%. A very highly respected (and feared) entertainment lawyer looked it up one day while I was working on his house. How that 15% difference is determined to be valid is the real issue.
I always thought that there was more to the story with the CDT/Tuna/Charlie vs Steve NC/Dung Beetle (WTF?) story about the trigger.
I purchased one of the CDT triggers and it works much better than the original in my Gamo and it seems of plenty good quality. However, it could use a tweak that I did on mine and that is to remove the larger adjustment screw, then carefully file/polish the end until it resembles a ball bearing. Then it operates VERY smoothly, where before it was a bit “gritty” in operation. My thanks to Steve NC for pointing that out (LOL!!) when touting the “superiority” of his own offering, which also has a slightly different offset to the 2 screws than Charlie’s, but I am not totally convinced that it makes all that much difference. Rounding the screw end definitely does though as Charlie’s comes stock as if from an Ace Hardware bin, but Steve’s is already rounded off nicely.
i bought the tuna trigger simply because it looked better quality and the site was better. i didnt know much about either persons. however much of steve nc posts seem intellectually masturbatory, gushing with his vast library of anecdotal science. and as far as copying ideas, no one sheds a tear for browning, yet dozens of makers have a 1911. each company makes them a little better/different, and the market decides which succeeds

Yeah, all the posts about who screwed who on the trigger seem compelling… until you read them all! It’s like a couple that breaks up after one of them digs the swinger sex more than the other…
I don’t know if the patent issue is really a player. I’m ignorant on the topic but I didn’t see anything that would qualify for patent protection in the GTX (or whatever) design. Besides, patent protection is only as strong as you’re willing to fight for. If you have an idea that brings in a couple grand a year, it makes no sense to pay twice that to protest the property unless you think next year will be far more profitable… Unless you’re in a high dollar market, it’s hard to protect your ideas that you’ve turned into actual products.
Jerry, from what I can tell the “original” trigger was lacking and made by the same guy that makes the no fault “regulator”. The “ripped off” trigger made by the other guy was actually well made. But with all the finger pointing I really couldn’t tell who’s was who’s and what the real issue was.
I may have it flipped around though… 😕
Still, no patent, no patent protection, no alternative protection. What the fuck? He’s essentially giving the idea away if you put it to market without the ability to protect it or back it…
Alternative protection is quality manufacturing, fair prices and excellent customer service that is if a patent is cost prohibitive. It would appear none of these alternative protection tactics were employed, actually it’s more like they were totally ignored… 😯
Remember when Chris of FILARMS fame sent all those guns back to the PI because they were not good enough for delivery…ands then disappeared? This just sounds like a better excused (by fine print) version of the same scam. Instead of having to disappear, a higher volume of crap can actually be delivered and then some policy words used to screw the customers.
I read as much as I could find about the Steve vs. Charlie issue and I could never figure out for sure who was the rip-off artist. Maybe both have talent and neither has ethics? (Just tossing that out there, I really don’t have a firm opinion on their trigger squabble but the regulator/AoA deal is another factor to consider.)

You c, i can completely understand how the product was bought and the little DISCLAIMER was not read. WHO READS DISCAIMERS on airgun websites when buying a product? NOBODY DOES!! You simply click the item, then put it in your basket then pay by credit card for it.
Adam, you are 100% correct. Its a scam. But i am really sensitive to all of this as i too have bought products that the same AMERICAN distributor did not support. In my case i had to contact various EUROPEAN distributors.
HELL ADAM, you just gave me a GREAT SCAM IDEA. I am gonna make the 1st DISPOSABLE AIRGUN where it gets 1 maybe 2 full fills then by design, it breaks itself then ya just throw it away. But I’m gonna put the DISCLAIMER in a very hard o find spot on my website. Annnnd, I’m not gonna mention that the gun is DISPOSABLE. And when people contact me about fixing the gun, i will HAPPILY tell them all to KISS my ass cause I GOT YOUR MONEY ALREADY. And by the time everybody finds out I’m a scam artist, I’ll be rich…..lol (lots o’ sarcasm). SWEET!

It IS adjustable…they CLAIM it’s not repairable…which I think is BS.
That little pin that’s holding everything in place can be removed. Might take a little bit of judiciously applied heat (soldering iron) to the pin bosses, but it CAN be removed.
