As for the U.S.A. contact Tony Rudenko, in Europe — contact the representatives in Europe. But in .25 caliber there is only one problem — lack of good pellets with good accruacy.

In .25 caliber I made about 300 guns already 🙂 The average speed of 35 grain pellet is 275 m/sec, the working preasure 220-140 bar, and around 30 shots per fill.

This holes were made based on the idea that we need to remove as much air back side as possible to prevent much volume of air come out from the front side, generating the sound wave. If the back side of the moderator is close we can have there the volume of air equal the volume of that back part of the moderator, if we need more — the preausre will be increased there and the air will come out to the side with the lower preasure of the air — to the front one. Having their holes at the very back of the moderator we allow part of the air come out backward thus increasing the volume of the air coming down. That is why the moderator sounds better then without those holes. Number of the hols and the diameter were found by the experiments.

I vented the last shroud I made for my LD. Drilled a line of holes right up the center and a couple at the back.

I get a nice puff of air and it helps keep the noise down.

Hoot, as YN said they’re all dirlled. If I am correct, the older versions (bolt versions) have 2 holes, and new ones (sidelever versions) have 3 holes. I had the older version and I have the new one. The main differences are the shroud diameter, 16mm in the old one and 20mm in the new one. The bolt version shroud fitted around the brass collar of the barrel, and was inserted in the breech and locked with two bolts. The sidelever version is threaded on the breech and has a 1/2″ thread on the other end for a silencer, for most silencers you’ll need a male-male adapter.

Also for those looking for more power, you might want to check that brass collar around the barrel end, they’re indeed two pieces that adjust the diameter of the hole in which the air passes into the barrel.
Another very good tip, was posted earlier by THE ROC about reducing the diameter of the bolt’s tip that pushes the pellet. Look for his posts.

I’ll post pictures of my S400 Sidelever this week. I’ve machined a new adjustable (only height) trigger with a trigger shor similar to the one’s used by Walther on the Dominator model. And I’ve swapped the Xtra tube for a Classic one. Free floating barrel and chinese bipod.

Oh, I almost forgot, you might want to check the interior of your shroud, the piece that holds the barrel centered in the shroud is poorly designed, new ones are a plus for someone looking to quiet it down.

yeah both old and new AA410 shrouds are vented at the end….shroud might be rotated to hide hole(s) against tank…..it works…i wouldnt suggest drilling more holes….maybe enlarging the ones that are there allready….but i bet it has allready been optimized….

However, Steve looked to have four on each side, and of a good size too, by which I mean 1/8″ or thereabouts. I’m tempted to try it myself.

I believe they are already vented. Small hole on the underside of shroud just before it entered the frame. Hard to see because their air tube is right underneath it.
