Q:

Talon SS 177 or 22?

I’m looking at getting a Talon SS withe the 12oz co2 tank, but cant decide if I want 177 or 22 cal. The plus for 177 is im already geared up for that caliber. I have about 2000 pellets, cleaning rod, cleaning pellets etc. But, it seams like everyone suggests going with the 22.

My shooting consists of almost all target/plinking with the occasional pest dispatching. IE fairly large tree squirrels that like to harass my dogs. Other than that I wouldnt use it for hunting.

Im also tossed up on what scope to get. Right now I’m leaning toward a UTG Golden Image Red/Green Dot Sight:

But I also like the leapers bug buster:

So what are your opinions or suggestions?

Talon/Talon SS

Danger, Will Robinson…Danger! The AF pumps have a terrible reputation. I think that there is even a sticky warning people not to buy them. Seriously, check it out; it’s a costly mistake.

Ugh! My order has already shipped too. 😕

yeah…screw that pump!!!! tanks the only way….i would like a compressor but starting at 15 hundred just to charge 1 gun??? too much!! however i must agree…my 100 cf tank was waaaay worth it. no pumping heartattacks, just fill and shoot. aaaaand at divers direct i got it new for (i believe) less than the pump. ive also got a 13 cf buddy bottle thats great for the field, range, etc.

Visit your local dive shop. My used 100cuft 3500psi scuba tank cost the same as the AF hand pump. Remember you have a limited time to return that $180 pump and get a refund.

You’ll enjoy your gun a lot!

The nice thing about airguns is the ammo is cheap and available. Compare that to a 17 HMR where I waited 4 weeks for 20gn Hornady rounds or how I’m still waiting for Remington 270 LE rounds! Firearms are cheaper than airguns until you start shooting them.

Order place 😆

I got the ss in 22 cal with the scuba adapter and a hand pump. It was only about $15 more to get it with the scuba adapter so I figured why not 😀 Got an assortment of pellets and some scope rings too.

Yeah if you told me a month ago I’d be dropping 800 bucks on an airgun I’d have asked wtf you smokin’ yet here were are LOL. I can see this going well over a few G’s in the next few months. I’m just about ready to hit the old checkout button 😕

BTW I’ve already been looking at compressors 😯 I could always start my own side business filling scuba tanks for people 😀

i just got done spending a buuuuncha money (somewhere round 3 g’s) on my ss and accessories and i loooove it!!! get both .177 and .22!!! i did!!

Sticker shock? We have all been there. However, you will love your TSS in whatever caliber you choose. The HPA is awesome! my .22 is a hammer. Tree rats at 15 yards will be fun. You are going to enjoy the power an accuracy.

Yes it is expensive, but you will know that your money was well spent.

Then as you hang around here, you will learn about other great airguns that make your TSS look inexpensive. Maybe a carbon fiber tank you can have filled to 4500psi for 30 nto 40 refills before you need to get it refilled. Or better yet, maybe your own high pressure compressor 😀

It just goes on and on….hi, my name is Steve….(hi steve). It’s been 6 months since I bought my last airgun. (Good on ya mate). Thanks guys, everyday is challenge not to buy a Falcon, an Edgun, or a .25 Rapid that spits them out at 950 fps. (stay strong steve) 😆 😆 😆

Im thinking about going HPA now. Ugh, my shopping cart total is up to $741 😯 and thats not even including a scope 😕
